Plot Synopsis

Set in suburban New Jersey in the mid-1980s, RED OAKS is a half-hour coming-of-age dramedy that follows David Meyers, an NYU student and a young man at a crossroads, who is conflicted about his major, confused about his relationship with his high school sweetheart Karen, hanging out with his friend Wheeler, and unsure what to make of the recent confession by his parents Judy and Sam that they may never have really loved each other. Hired as an assistant tennis pro at Red Oaks Country Club in 1985, David finds himself the recipient of unsolicited life advice from a colorful group of coworkers and wealthy club members including an alluring art student named Skye, her corporate raider father Getty, and tennis-pro Nash. The first season take place over one summer, during which David is swept into a surprising hustle when he agrees to be Getty's doubles partner for an outside-work tennis match, talks sleazy photographer Barry into hiring him to film a wedding at Red Oaks, coaches Getty for a club tennis championship, films a sex tape for middle-aged swingers from the club, and much more. Thirteen months after premiering the pilot of RED OAKS on August 28, 2015, Amazon released the entire 10-episode first season of this series on Friday, October 9, 2015. Season 2 of RED OAKS premiered on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. The second season takes place in the summer of 1986, and for assistant tennis pro David Meyers it's been a year of upheaval. In a freefall following his parents' divorce, forced to drop out of NYU and forego dreams of becoming a filmmaker, his one silver lining has been his budding romance with Skye, the daughter of club president Doug Getty. But when Skye returns home from a year abroad in Paris with more worldly ways and a newfound independence, David finds himself caught in the middle between his strong-willed girlfriend and her equally stubborn father. Meanwhile David's family and friends are all struggling through their own complicated summer of love. Roguish head pro Nash decides to try his hand at gold-digging, valet-turned-bartender Wheeler continues his quest to win the heart of lifelong crush Misty, and ex-spouses Sam and Judy explore the New Jersey singles scene.

On Friday, October 20, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Amazon released the entire six-episode third season of RED OAKS. Summer '87 finds David in the Big Apple, working at a video production company, and striking out with the ladies of New York. Luckily he's got roommate Wheeler to help cheer him up. But Wheeler's got his own problems, with the appearance on the scene of a handsome rival for Misty's affections. Meanwhile Nash brings an incarcerated Getty news of a threat to the future of their beloved Red Oaks. IRS Agent Terry pitches Sam on a business venture for which neither is qualified, and Sam decides to pursue the opportunity despite warnings from his ex-wife Judy. Plus, Sam and Shirley run into trouble during a night on the town.
