Plot Synopsis

In each 30-minute episode of RECIPE REHAB, two expert chefs compete to create a lower-calorie, healthier version of a single dish based on a high-cal recipe. Then, judging the chefs' creations based on taste and ease of preparation, a family casts their votes for the best new and improved versions of these dishes: spaghetti and meatballs; mac and cheese; fried chicken; pumpkin bars; Chinese food; Mexican style pancakes; holiday sides; and much more. Plus, the host and chefs share their healthy eating tips throughout the program, while inspiring children and their families to make healthy lifestyle choices. The first season featured host Danny Boome and a rotating cast of acclaimed chefs -- Spike Mendelsohn, Candice Kumai, Laura Vitale, Tana Amen, Govind Armstrong, Calvin Harris, and Mareya Ibrahim -- when RECIPE REHAB aired as part of Litton Entertainment's programming block, "Litton's Weekend Adventure," which included six half-hour hi-def educational and informational series on Saturday mornings on ABC affiliates across the United States. For the show's second season, RECIPE REHAB changed hosts, chefs, and networks. Now hosted by Evette Rios, Chefs Vikki Krinsky and Richard Rosendale battle in friendly culinary competitions to see who can make a tastier low-calorie dish each week. Season 2 premiered as part of CBS/Litton Entertainment's three-hour educational/informational programming block on Saturday mornings, branded "The CBS Dream Team, It's Epic!," which is targeted at 13-to-16-year-old viewers. In addition to airing on CBS, this programming block is available on American bases in more than 175 countries on the American Forces Network (AFN), a worldwide radio and television broadcast network that airs programming to service members and their families at American bases as well as those serving on 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea. Plus, the programs will be accompanied by an enhanced audio description of the scenes in all episodes -- inserted during existing pauses in the show's audio track -- to better reach viewers with learning disabilities, autism, or visually impairments, as well as for English language learners.

RECIPE REHAB returned for its third season on Saturday, September 27, 2014 as part of CBS' Saturday morning educational & informational programming block (check local listings). In the season opener, "Loaded Brownie," Chefs Vikki and Richard compete in the battle of the sweets to take the Shepherd family's loaded brownie from a sugary treat to a healthy delight.
