Plot Synopsis

A gang of monkeys makes its home at Galta Temple in Jaipur, India but must venture into the city to survive during a drought. For years, this troop of monkeys -- lead by alpha-male Tarak and alpha-female Rani -- lived the good life at the temple where worshippers pay their respects to the Hindu monkey god Hanuman. They grew accustomed to lounging by the sacred pool and accepting handouts from Temple visitors. When a drought threatens local food supplies, the monkeys are forced to search for and steal food on the chaotic streets of the Pink City, where they encounter livid locals, battle bigger badder monkeys, and avoid the monkey catcher. This series premiered in the United States on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 8pm ET, only a few days after National Geographic unveiled the Nat Geo Wild channel in the U.S.
