Plot Synopsis

Created by Issa Rae, RAP SH!T is a half-hour comedy series that follows two estranged high school friends from Miami -- Shawna and Mia -- who reunite years later to form a rap group. Shawna brings her lyrical skill and Mia provides her built-in online audience -- but is that enough for the duo to make it? The first two episodes of RAP SH!T dropped on Thursday, July 21, 2022 on HBO Max, with a new installment debuting each Thursday through September 1.

Season 2 of RAP SH!T premiered on Thursday, November 9, 2023 on Max, which released the first two episodes of the new season. A new installment drops weekly through December 21. In their rise to fame, Shawna and Mia find themselves at a pivotal moment in their rap career as they are forced to decide if they will stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry. In the season opener, "Yield," before going on tour with Reina Reign, Shawna comes clean to her family...and reconnects with Francois. Meanwhile, Mia frets over leaving Melissa under her mother's care -- until Lamont intervenes.

On Thursday, December 21, 2023, Max released "Under Construction," the Season 2 finale of RAP SH!T. When presented with differing opportunities, Shawna and Mia must decide once and for all whether their loyalties lie with Francois or Chastity. Maurice and Shawna face the music, as Mia gets a disconcerting wake-up call at Melissa's birthday party.
