Season 1
Plot Synopsis
Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, QUEEN AMERICA is a dark comedy series that centers on the triumphs and failures of Vicki Ellis, the most renowned (and ruthless) pageant coach in the state, and the hapless Samantha, who hopes Vicki can mold her into a worthwhile contender. It is a dissection of the American Dream as it manifests in the small towns of our country where opportunities are scarce and beauty pageants are often a ticket out. Vicki is desperately sought after by young women competing to be pageant queen royalty for one reason: she can turn any girl into a winner. But when she's paired with the beautiful but unpolished Samantha, Vicki's entire reputation is at stake. QUEEN AMERICA opens with Vicki training Hayley Wilson (Miss Tulsa US) to be the next Miss America Starred and Striped United States. Hayley and Samantha both compete in the Miss Oklahoma Starred and Striped United States pageant, but, after an unexpected turn of events, Vicki questions if she'll continue to coach this year. Later, Samantha makes her first appearance at a black-tie event, and she receives an unexpected offer when things don't quite go as planned. The series debuted on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 9pm ET/6pm PT with three episodes, followed by one new episode released weekly on Sundays at 9pm ET/6pm PT.
