Plot Synopsis

Inspired by true events, PURE is a one-hour drama series that tells the fictional story of Noah Funk, a newly elected Mennonite pastor trying to protect his family and preserve his faith while battling drug trafficking within his community. Noah is determined to rid his community of the scourge of drugs and its nefarious ties to a transborder smuggling alliance with ruthless Mexican cocaine cartels. But just when he thinks he's won, he's thrust headlong into a desperate world of violence, greed, and betrayal. The series opens with Noah under pressure from his congregation, so he takes matters into his own hands to ensure that Gerry Epp and his drug dealing crew go to jail. On Friday, July 7, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Hulu released the U.S. premiere of the six-episode first season of PURE.

Season 2 of PURE had its U.S. premiere on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on WGN America. The second season picks up with Anna Funk going it alone after Noah disappeared for a year. In an attempt to shield her children from the family's involvement with the drug cartel, Anna finds herself in the very center of the drug ring she and Noah attempted to take down. Alyson Hannigan joins the cast as a recurring guest star.

"Excommunication" (Premieres on WGN America on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT): A year after Noah's departure, Anna struggles to support her children in the world of the auslanders. Trapped in his own Hell, Noah gets a sign that he is not forgotten by God.

"Faspa" (Premieres on WGN America on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT): Forced to return to the criminal life, Anna looks for a way to win Isaak back from her narco bosses. Noah and Abel agree to help the police identify the new boss.

"Return of the Lamb" (Premieres on WGN America on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT): Anna hopes that an extra-large shipment of cocaine will accelerate Isaak's return. Noah comes face to face with the new boss.

"The Proposal" (Premieres on WGN America on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT): Anna's attempt to cover her criminal tracks prompts an unexpected offer of marriage. Noah discovers that Anna is not the only family member working for the cartel.

"Penance" (Premieres on WGN America on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT): Anna makes a desperate attempt to guarantee Tina's safe passage back to the colony. Noah's efforts to catch Anna's narco boss could backfire.

"Wedding" (Season finale premieres on WGN America on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT): Released on bail after her arrest, Anna heads straight to the family farm, where Tina is about to be married to Johan, and confronts her nemesis, Justina Epp, who is determined to exact revenge for the murder of her husband. Meanwhile, Isaak must make a choice when Noah attempts to rescue him from Hector Estrada's grasp.
