Plot Synopsis
Executive produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and partner Chris Moore, this reality series follows the winners of an innovative online script-writing and directing contest. PROJECT GREENLIGHT takes an uncensored look at the pressures experienced by the winners as they navigate the filmmaking process, from pre-production and casting through photography and post-production.
PROJECT GREENLIGHT returned for a fourth season on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on HBO, including Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who were executive producers of the previous two seasons on HBO in 2001 and 2003, as well as Adaptive Studios' Marc Joubert, TJ Barrack, Perrin Chiles and Marshall Lewy; Miramax's Zanne Devine; and Magical Elves' Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth and Alexander Lipsitz. The show begins with a digital competition, as thousands of aspiring filmmakers submit three-minute short films via a Facebook page. The pool of contestants is eventually narrowed to 13 finalists, who are each given a scene to direct for their final project, based on a script provided to them. Season 4 opens with 13 finalists arriving in Los Angeles to meet with PROJECT GREENLIGHT judges: Affleck, Damon, executive Jennifer Todd, producer Marc Joubert, producer Effie Brown, HBO's Len Amato and the filmmaking duo Peter and Bobby Farrelly. As the judges discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each contestant's final project, they also debate the importance of artistic vision versus the collaborative skills required to be a successful director, all leading up to a red-carpet event, where Jason Mann is announced as the winner. The rest of the season follows Mann as the fledgling director must learn to cope with pressure from the studio and producers, survive on-set politics and lead a veteran cast and crew, all while trying to deliver a viable movie -- on schedule and on budget.

THE LEISURE CLASS, the end product of PROJECT GREENLIGHT's fourth season, had its television debut on HBO at 10pm ET/PT on Monday, November 2, 2015 -- one day after HBO premiered the Season 4 finale of the series. The film revolves around William, a debonair Englishman celebrating his imminent marriage to Fiona, the beautiful daughter of a U.S. senator and prominent East Coast family. But William is a con man; his identity is fake and his intent is to embezzle funds from the senator's charitable organization. Unexpectedly, William realizes he has true feelings for Fiona and now regrets his predicament. On the eve of the wedding, the sudden arrival of William's unstable, estranged brother, Leonard, threatens to expose both William's true identity and his scam. Unable to convince Leonard to leave, William watches helplessly as his brother insinuates himself into the family and the wedding festivities. A long night ensues, during which Leonard's reckless behavior not only calls into question the true nature of William and Fiona's relationship, but also reveals disturbing, long-hidden truths about Fiona's family. THE LEISURE CLASS cast includes Ed Weeks as the groom-to-be con man, William Rooney; Tom Bell as William's estranged brother, Leonard; Bridget Regan as William's bride-to-be, Fiona Langston; Scottie Thompson as Fiona's sister Allison; Melanie Zanetti as Fiona's youngest sister, Carolyn; Christine Lakin as Leonard's new friend; Rory Knox Johnston as the family butler; Brenda Strong as Fiona's mother, Charlotte Langston' and Bruce Davison as Fiona's father, U.S. Senator Edward Langston.
