Plot Synopsis
Serial entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis invests his own money to transform struggling businesses into profitable ventures. In this series, Lemonis puts his own money on the line, and he'll do anything to save each company and turn a profit -- even if it means firing the president, promoting the secretary, or doing the work himself. In each 60-minute episode, Lemonis works with one business, including: Car Cash, which is just weeks away from being forced to close its doors for good, as two feuding brothers who buy used cars for cash have watched their business dry up; Jacob Maarse Florists, a premier Southern California flower shop, which has lost money after its founder died and its spoiled mama's boy inherited it; Planet Popcorn, which can't show a profit despite being a multi-million dollar business; Eco-Me, an all-natural cleaning-supply company started by two best friends who wanted to help people rid their home of potentially toxic products; LA Dogworks, a state-of-the-art dog care facility with volatile leadership and terrible morale; and many other companies in need of a business makeover.
Season 2 of THE PROFIT premiered on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on CNBC, with eight new episodes. The first three episodes of the second season featured: Athans Motors, a high-end used car dealership in Morton Grove, IL; A. Stein Meat Products, a second-generation business run by two lifelong friends in Brooklyn, NY; and Michael Sena's Pro-Fit, a little gym right outside of Chicago. Subsequent episodes featured these businesses: Skullduggery, a toy and craft kit manufacturer in Anaheim, CA; Amazing Grapes, a wine store in Santa Margarita, CA; WorldWide Trailer Sales, Inc., which manufactures and sells concession trailers from Tampa, FL; Sweet Pete's, a gourmet candy manufacturer specializing in vegan and gluten-free sweets in Jacksonville, FL; and Key West Key Lime Pie Company in Key West, FL. THE PROFIT returned for the rest of Season 2 on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on CNBC. In the first episode back, Marcus visits Courage.b, a family-run clothing company with seven retail stores in the New York City area. Even though the company had more than $5 million in sales last year, it's still operating in the red because of a family power struggle. Later in the second season, Marcus turns around these companies: Artistic Stitch (Glendale, NY); ASL Sign Sales & Services (Surfside Beach, SC); Coopersburg Sports (Coopersburg, PA); My Big Fat Greek Gyro (McMurray, PA); Shuler's BBQ (Latta, SC); Swanson's Fish Markets (Fairfield, CT); Unique Salon & Spa (Syosset, NY); and West End Coffee Company (Greenville, SC).
THE PROFIT returned for a 12-episode third season on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, as Lemonis brings his famous "three Ps" principle (People, Process, and Product) to nine small businesses hailing from a variety of industries. From a Staten Island burger joint, to a Missouri cosmetics company, to a Massachusetts drum maker, these companies face very different challenges. But they also have one thing in common: they need Lemonis's help. But at some of these companies, so much has happened in such a short period of time that they deserve a whole new episode. And so for the first time in the history of "The Profit," fans will get hour-long updates on two previously featured businesses: Courage. b and My Big Fat Greek Gyro (now known as The Simple Greek). From amazing transformations to dramatic confrontations, viewers will see everything that's happened at these companies since THE PROFIT first visited. But most of all, they'll get an unvarnished look at Lemonis's process -- and a no-holds-barred exploration of how real business is done. The new small businesses featured in Season 3 include: FuelFood (West Palm Beach, FL); Grafton Furniture (Miami, FL); The Lano Company (Kansas City, MO); M&D Marketing/240sweet (Columbus, IN); Precise Graphix (Bethlehem, PA); RAMP Sports (Park City, UT); SJC Drums - Southbridge, MA; Standard Burger (Staten Island, NY); and Tonnie's Minis (New York, NY). In the Tuesday, October 28th episode, Marcus visits Bentley's Corner Barkery, a small chain of natural pet food stores in Chicago growing too quickly for its own good.
