Plot Synopsis

PRISON BRIDES is a one-hour docuseries that follows seven women from around the world who believe they have found their soulmates in the most unexpected of places, American prisons. While they started off as prison pen pals, these women fell hard and found themselves willing to risk it all for love. The docuseries follows the women as they travel from their homes -- many visiting the United States for the first time - to meet their prisoner fiances, husbands, or partners, to chart their futures together. With the couples facing harsh judgment from friends, family and strangers, the brides grapple with uncertainty and their ultimate decision to risk it all for true love. Will true love prevail for these star-crossed lovers with the odds stacked against them? The couples are:

Erin & Michael: Erin, a single mom from Australia, has left her entire world behind to move to Ohio to be with Michael, who is soon to be released from prison. As someone who has spent most of his adult life in jail, can he stay on the straight and narrow to be the man Erin believes him to be?

Svea & Joseph: Midwife Svea met Joseph online, writing to him from Germany while he was incarcerated in Michigan. As he approaches release, Svea is ready to give their relationship her all. But will their relationship be as magical as it was when he was behind bars?

Jessica & Craig: Australian born Jessica is truly a prison bride, having married Craig and moved to Kansas to build a life and family with him. Will the reality of Craig being free, live up to her expectations?

Emma & Curtis: Emma is set to marry convicted carjacker Curtis while he's still behind bars. However, will the pressure from her cautious parents interfere with her plans to move from the UK to the US?

Andreea & Cage: Born in Romania but raised in Spain, Andreea is now a university student in London intent on marrying Cage, a US inmate who has served only 10 years of his 50 years sentence in Texas for aggravated burglary.

Olivia & KJ: UK Dance teacher Olivia met US inmate KJ and three days later, he proposed. Now, she's making the move to America to be with her dream man. But the road to true love doesn't always run smooth.

Gabby & Jamal: Former German model Gabby is deeply in love with Jamal, who is convicted of murder. But Gabby is exploring appeal options
