Plot Synopsis

Directed by Nadia Hallgren, POP STAR ACADEMY: KATSEYE is an eight-episode reality series that begins with 20 aspiring pop stars who undergo a K-pop training program as they vie to be part of of HYBE x Geffen's first global girl group, KATSEYE. After receiving over 120,000 submissions from talented young people from around the world, Geffen Records and HYBE revealed the 20 contestants from around the world who would be competing for a spot in the band. These 20 performers are: Marquise (17; Thailand), Emily (17; US), Yoonchae (15; South Korea), Sophia (20; Philippines), Ua (15; Japan), Mei (17; Japan), Nayoung (21; South Korea), Samara (17; Brazil), Manon (21; Switzerland), Megan (17; US), Lara (17; US), Ezrela (20; Australia), Iliya (21; Belarus), Celeste (19; Argentina), Daniela (19; US), Lexie (19; Sweden), Brooklyn (17; US), Hinari (14; Japan), Adela (19; Slovakia), and Karlee (19; US). That group was then then whittled down to 10; the final six members who make up KATSEYE were announced on November 17, 2023 at a live finale event in Los Angeles. The group's first single, "Debut," dropped on June 28, 2024, followed by their first EP, "SIS (Soft Is Strong)," on August 16, 2024. All eight episodes of POP STAR ACADEMY: KATSEYE dropped on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 on Netflix.
