Plot Synopsis
The ninth-oldest college football bowl game, the Peach Bowl was created by the Lion's Club of Atlanta. At the inaugural event, LSU beat Florida State 31-27 on December 13, 1968 at Georgia Tech's Grant Field, where the first three contests took place before shifting to Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1971-1991, the Georgia Dome from 1992-2016, and then the Georgia Dome's replacement: Mercedes-Benz Stadium. At the same time the game moved to the Georgia Dome, the Peach Bowl also reached agreements with the ACC and SEC. Four years later, Chick-fil-A became the Bowl's first and only title partner, after which the game was known as the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl from 1997-2005 and then the Chick-fil-A Bowl until 2013. Shortly after being selected as one of six bowl games to host the College Football Playoff, the Chick-fil-A Bowl added Peach back to its name in 2014. Over the next 12 years, the Bowl will host a national semifinal game (#1 vs. #4 or #2 vs. #3) four times. In the other eight years, the Bowl will host top-ranked teams from around the country from various conferences.
