Plot Synopsis

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will take place between August 28 and September 8, brings together as many as 4,400 athletes from around the world competing in 549 medal events. The first Paralympic summer Games in the French capital will showcase 22 sports, including both individual and team sports.

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 2-5:30pm ET/11am-2:30pm PT, USA Network and Peacock present live coverage of the Opening Ceremony for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, with athletes parading down the famous Champs-Elysees to the ceremony at the Place de la Concorde. The ceremony opens with a parade involving up to 168 delegations from around the world and is open to spectators, who can experience it alongside 6,000 athletes and officials, and the event additionally features celebrations, the lighting of the Paralympic cauldron, Parade of Nations, and more. Nicky Nieves (Sitting volleyball) and Steve Serio (Wheelchair basketball) will be flagbearers for the United States. Ahmed Fareed and 13-time Paralympic medalist Chris Waddell anchor the coverage.

Live competition coverage of the games begins the following day (Thursday, August 29) at 5am ET/2am PT on USA Network and Peacock, highlighted by swimming, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and cycling. Starting Thursday and running every day through September 7, Gold Zone streams live on Peacock from 11am-4pm ET/8am-1pm PT. Paris 2024 marks the first time the Paralympics will get live whip-around show treatment, showcasing the must-see Paralympic moments as they unfold.
