Plot Synopsis

Based on Min Jin Lee's 2017 book of the same name, PACHINKO is drama series that begins with a forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell an unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning. The series opens in 1920s Korea, where Yanglin and Hoonie shield their only child, Sunja, from the realities of life under colonial rule. In 1989, Solomon closes a big deal. Told in three languages -- Korean, Japanese, and English -- PACHINKO debuted on Friday, March 25, 2022, as Apple TV+ released the first three episodes. A new episode debuts each Friday through April 29, 2022.

Season 2 of PACHINKO debuted on Friday, August 23, 2024 on Apple TV+, which released the first episode of the new season. A new installment dropped weekly on Fridays through October 11. In the second season, parallel stories pick up in Osaka in 1945, where Sunja is forced to make dangerous decisions for her family's survival during World War II, and in Tokyo in 1989, where Solomon explores new, humble beginnings -- and takes a stand after being pushed to the edge.
