Plot Synopsis
OZARK is a one-hour drama series that follows financial adviser Marty Byrde, who drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss. There, he bumps heads with both a local drug dealer whose business he inadvertently interrupts, and a clan of ruffians, led by their 19-year-old niece, who want his money, all the while avoiding the eye of a tenacious FBI agent. He must complete his laundering, to save the life of his family, as they struggle to find their own path in this seemingly foreign way of life. The series opens when Marty's business partner cheats a dangerous client, forcing Marty to devise a radical plan to save the lives of himself and his family. On Friday, July 21, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the entire 10-episode first season of OZARK, for which series star and executive producer Jason Bateman directed four episodes.
Season 2 of OZARK premiered on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire season. In the second season, OZARK continues to follow Marty Bryde and his family as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Byrdes soon realize they have to go all in before they can get out.
Netflix released the entire 10-episode third season of OZARK on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. They are all in. The Byrdes are back in business and the stakes have never been higher. As tensions mount surrounding their new casino, The Missouri Belle, Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family's safety with the growing success of their money laundering empire. Season 3 opens with Marty being pressured to move money ahead of schedule, Wendy pitches a high-stakes plan, Wyatt lives the good life, and Ruth butts heads in the casino.
Season 4 of OZARK is released in two parts consisting of seven episodes each, with Part 1 dropping on Friday, January 21, 2022 on Netflix. Freedom from the cartel is seemingly within reach, but fraying familial bonds may prove to be the Byrdes' ultimate undoing. In the season opener, "The Beginning of the End," Marty and Wendy wrestle with a problematic offer. Ruth goes out on her own, Jonah rebels, and Omar's nephew makes his presence known.
