Plot Synopsis
With Earth no longer habitable, a diverse group of courageous pioneers have traveled to Carpathia, another planet where its new inhabitants try to avoid the mistakes made on Earth, but they cannot escape the human pitfalls of love, greed, lust, loss, and corruption. They've built the town of Forthaven on Carpathia and have the unique opportunity of creating a new and better future on another planet, but as they continue to work and live together, they come to realize this is no ordinary planet and that a bigger purpose may be at work. The new planet's inhabitants include: President Tate, who is dedicated to keeping the human species alive in a democratic society, but has made some tough decisions in the past which may prove divisive; Stella Isen, the Head of Protection and Security (PAS) and Tate's second in command, who maintains order despite having sacrificed everything -- including her husband and daughter who are due to arrive on a transporter at the start of the series; Cass Cromwell, a PAS Officer who is unpredictable and so fiercely loyal to Tate that he may regret his past actions; Fleur Morgan, a young and idealistic PAS Officer who works with Cass Cromwell, forming a great relationship that may develop into something more; Mitchell Hoban, the Head of the Expeditionaries, who is frustrated at the established order and has his own ideas as to how the planet should be run; Jack Holt, the second in command of the Expeditionaries, who is tough, armed and potentially dangerous; Julius Berger, Vice President of the Evacuation Program on Earth, who is en route to Carpathia on the last transporter leaving the old planet and is expecting the power and status to which he has grown accustomed; and Rudi, the leader of the Advanced Cultivars, a group of genetically modified humans and one of Carpathia's darkest secrets, who are angered at the way they have been treated.
