Plot Synopsis

OUTBACK OPAL HUNTERS is a one-hour reality series that follows opal hunters who search for rare treasure in the most remote regions of Australia. Opals are hidden up to 30 meters deep below the surface of the earth. There they formed under the pressure of the surrounding rock over the millennia from silicic acid and water. The purer and more intense the colors are, the more valuable is the stone -- and even a dazzling specimen can turn treasure hunters into millionaires. This series had its U.S. premiere on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT on Discovery Channel.

Season 3 of OUTBACK OPAL HUNTERS made its U.S. debut on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. In the season opener, "Disaster Strikes," the Young Guns face an uncertain future when James gets injured; the Bushmen find opal on the boundary of their mine, and rain slows down the Cheals.
