Plot Synopsis
Sarah's life changes after she witnesses the suicide of Beth, a woman who looks just like her. Having grown up an orphan, and now an outsider in society, Sarah jumps at the chance to assume Beth's identity, clean out her bank accounts and take her boyfriend. Instead of solving her problems, the street-smart chameleon discovers that she and the dead woman are clones -- and with an assassin chasing after her, Sarah must quickly find answers. Season 2 premiered on April 19, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on BBC America, with Sarah in a desperate race to find her missing daughter, Kira -- a wild pursuit that brings her head-to-head with ruthless pro-clone, Rachel. Her scorched earth tactics spark a war with pro-clone Rachel, dividing and imperiling all the clones. This season also rejoins Sarah's clone sisters Alison and Cosima, as they struggle to keep their clone world a secret and pick up the pieces of their broken lives -- all while dealing with the harsh reality that no one around them can be trusted. Guest starring are: SUITS' Patrick J. Adams as Jesse, a down to earth guy with guts to match his good nature; and TRUE BLOOD'S Michelle Forbes as Marion Bowles, a powerful new player at the Dyad Institute with a birds-eye view of the war between Sarah and Rachel. In the conclusion of the second season, the war with Dyad is all but lost when Rachel's latest ploy forces a broken Sarah to concede. The Clone Club springs into action, uniting in a reckless gambit to save Sarah. As they fight to gain their freedom, Sarah encounters a new ally and uncovers a terrifying new dimension to the conspiracy. Season 3 of ORPHAN BLACK premiered on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on BBC America, with simulcasts on AMC, IFC, Sundance TV and WE. More vulnerable than ever before, Sarah, Cosima, Alison, and Helena's bond will be put to the test with the reveal of highly trained, identical male-soldiers played by Ari Millen. Who are these new clones? Who created them? And more importantly, why do they exist? Justin Chatwin joins the series for its third season in a recurring role as Jason Kellerman. With rugged good looks and street-smarts, Jason is a savvy drug-dealer in the guise of a charismatic businessman. Plus, James Frain guest stars in Season 3 as Ferdinand, a well-educated "cleaner" who is both charming and intimidating. Ferdinand is a powerful player in a secretive, multi-national political faction that operates with questionable ethics and a ruthless approach. Also joining the cast this season is Ksenia Solo as Shay, a soulful and compassionate holistic healer with a great sense of humor destined to become a new friend to Cosima Niehaus. Kyra Harper will play Dr. Coady, a ruthless doctor and advisor to the military. Coady is outwardly the soul of reason, but her maternal, nurturing manner conceals an agenda that even her superiors do not suspect. And rounding out the additions is Earl Pastko as Bulldog, Ferdinand's silent, imposing and violent personal bodyguard. Communicating with his boss by looks only, Bulldog carries out the dirty work of his shady employers. Season 4 of ORPHAN BLACK premiered on a new night and new time -- Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT -- beginning on April 14, 2016 on BBC America. The new season sees Sarah returning home from her Icelandic hideout to track down an elusive new ally tied to deceased clone Beth, whose identity Sarah stole in the series' first episode. With the stakes higher than ever before, Sarah and her sisters band together to uncover the missing chapter of the clone conspiracy -- following Beth's footsteps into a dangerous relationship with a potent enemy who holds the key to their survival. The fifth and final season of ORPHAN BLACK premiered on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on BBC America. The clones have been through it all together. From assassinations, detrimental illnesses, monitors and accidental murders to suburban drug fronts, kidnappings, male clones and biological warfare - there isn't anything this lot hasn't experienced. But through it all, they've remained united in their love and mission to keep each other safe at all costs. They've sacrificed their families, the loves of their lives, and any true sense of normalcy -- all for the chance to liberate themselves from forces much bigger than any one of them. Now, they must all fight for the family they've chosen, for a new future and ultimately, for freedom. In the season opener, "The Few Who Dare," Sarah is deeply wounded and struggling to stay alive on the Island. Driven deep into its forest by Neolutionists and worse, she strives to make it far enough to rescue Cosima. Meanwhile, a recovering Cosima reunites with Delphine. Sarah Barnett, President of BBC AMERICA, stated, "ORPHAN BLACK is a thrilling, genre-bending ride that has captured our fans' imaginations and hearts like no other show. Our genius team of actors, writers and producers have, time after time, taken us to a place of awe, delight and utter shock and surprise. Tatiana has been and continues to be a complete revelation, hers is one of the most remarkable performances on television, and she is joined by an extraordinary cast. We can't wait to take our incredibly passionate audience on one final gobsmacking clone adventure." Co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson stated: "We are excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters. The past four seasons have been a phenomenal adventure and we are eternally grateful to our loyal fans who have loved the twists and thrills of our weird little show. We are thankful to our partners at Temple Street, and to BBC AMERICA and Space for their support and giving us the opportunity to end on a high." "When we embarked upon this journey with John and Graeme, we knew we had something special on our hands, but didn't imagine how deeply it would resonate with audiences and the worldwide acclaim it would receive. We are truly in awe of Tatiana who, each season, pulls off the impossible and brings each clone and their unique personalities to life in an extraordinarily captivating way," said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Executive Producers of Orphan Black and Co-Presidents of Boat Rocker Studios. "We are so proud of the cast and crew, who will be on this final ride with us as we draw the Orphan Black story to a close, and extremely thankful to our partners at BBC AMERICA and Space for their continued support, as well as the legions of fans who have made these five seasons possible".
