Plot Synopsis

In this one-hour reality series, bar and nightclub consultant John Green travels across the United States, transforming struggling bars into successful businesses. John quickly assesses each location, identifies the problems and finds the solutions to get these watering holes back into the black. In each 60-minute episode of ON THE ROCKS, John brings his expertise to one bar, including: Oxford Inn (Royal Oak, MI), where owners Bob and Mary built an additional bar onto their already shabby restaurant to help regain a huge loss of business; Ali Baba's Cave (San Diego, CA), where owner Nadi lost her son just six months after opening up the joint with him; London's West End (San Diego, CA), where owner Jen has struggled to balance running her dive bar and raising her children since losing her husband one year ago; XII Whiskey Bar & Grill (Fort Worth, TX), where owners Phil and Kristen have no bar experience, have limited capital, and were swindled by a third partner; The Boxcar (Cedar Hill, TX), where three squabbling siblings with no bar experience have dwindled their parents' retirement funds; and Ringside Lounge (Huntington Beach, CA), where owner Travis is $300,000 in debt and will soon be forced to close his doors and declare bankruptcy.
