Plot Synopsis

Hosted by photographer/director Sam Jones, OFF CAMERA WITH SAM JONES is a series of one-on-one interviews with celebrities, actors and musicians. Described as an episodic blogpodzine -- a combination blog, podcast, and e-magazine -- Jones started OFF CAMERA, because he "wanted the opportunity to have a non-agenda conversation with anyone that captivated me ... [and] the chance to photograph anyone that peaked my interest, without having an art director or a publicist looking over my shoulder." In 2013, Jones released 12 episodes, sitting down with one of these stars in each program: Val McCallum; John Krasinski; Blake Mills; Robert Downey Jr.; Aimee Mann; Tony Hawk; Dave Grohl; Judd Apatow; Laura Dern; Stacy Peralta; Martin Short; Will Forte; and Michael B. Jordan.

Just over one year after OFF CAMERA debuted online, DirecTV broadcast the television premiere of this series on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on its Audience Network, showing each one-hour, commercial-free episode in black and white. For OFF CAMERA's TV debut, Jones spent time with Robert Downey Jr., who revealed "lessons learned over his long career, why he's both skeptical and enamored of his art, and his ability to bring mass-market aspects to the small movies and independent spirit to the big ones."
