Plot Synopsis
Nikita is a spy and assassin who rebels against the top secret government agency that created and trained her, and now she'll stop at nothing to bring their powerful operation to an end. When she was a deeply troubled teenager, Nikita was rescued from death row by a secret U.S. agency known only as Division, which faked her execution and told her she was being given a second chance to start a new life and serve her country. What they didn't tell her was that she was being trained as a spy and assassin. Ultimately, Nikita was betrayed and her dreams shattered by the only people she thought she could trust. After three years in hiding, Nikita sought retribution and made it clear to her former bosses that she would stop at nothing to expose and destroy their covert operation. On her trail was Michael, the man who trained her, while one of the Division's new recruits, Alex, was her partner on the inside. By the end of the first season, Nikita and Alex's relationship had been shattered, and Nikita and Michael's relationship was restored. When Season 2 opened, Nikita and Michael were on the run, trying to right the wrongs that Division had committed over the years by using the Black Box -- a hard drive that held Division's darkest secrets and conspiracies -- as their guide while Alex pursued her former mentor under the auspices of Division, which was under the leadership of Amanda, with Percy imprisoned under Division. As Amanda controlled agents in the field and tried to track down Nikita, she allowed Percy to have more privileges, which provided him a chance to manipulate Alex. But Nikita and Alex ended up working together. Later, after Amanda released Percy from prison, he implemented missions to kill off agents and usurped Amanda, forcing Nikita and Michael to infiltrate Division to stop his plans. In the Season 2 finale, Nikita killed Percy and took over Division with Alex, Michael, Ryan, Birkoff, and Sean. Then, in Season 3, Nikita was working for a new Division, fighting alongside a team of allies she'd gathered throughout her adventures. They vowed to clean up the mess left behind by the old Division -- rogue spies, violent assassins -- and Nikita hunted down killers just as skilled as her. But in the process, they learned firsthand about the corrosive power of Division, as the temptations and stresses of running a covert black ops unit fractured the team and resulted in tragic losses. Plus, Amanda returned and joined forces with a secret society, "The Group," which engineered the assassination of the President of the United States and framed Nikita for the crime. Season 4 opened with Nikita finding herself alone and on the run, hunted as the most wanted woman in the world. She tried to find a way to clear her name, as well as take down Amanda and expose the Group before they could carry through their plans that could potentially lead to global catastrophe. Meanwhile, Nikita's former allies must track her down before her enemies do. They're led by Michael, the man who trained her -- and the man who loves her. Even though Nikita broke his heart by leaving him behind, Michael is determined to find her and he may be the only person in the world who has the skills to do it. Alex has risen above the tragedies of her past life to embrace a new role as a spokesperson against the evils of human trafficking, while using her identity as a Russian heiress to ferret out clues to the Group. Also on the hunt is Birkhoff, an anarchist who always chafed at doing the government's dirty work, for both the old and new Divisions. They're joined by Ryan, an ex-CIA analyst with a talent for pattern recognition whose life was saved by Nikita and who agreed to run the new Division. Plus, the group must deal with Sam, the Division agent formerly known as Owen, who was a Delta Force operative and is now a cold-hearted mercenary.
