Plot Synopsis
NIGHTWATCH is a one-hour series that follows multiple sets of partners in the New Orleans Emergency Medical Services unit who cover the unpredictable period from 8pm to 4am, as they battle time and circumstance to save lives. In the Big Easy, police officers, fire fighters and EMTs working the overnight shift answer as many as a thousand emergency calls a night. As the city's heroes, one thing remains clear -- the job of an emergency responder in NOLA is not only about saving lives, it's being there as a support system for the community of people in this diverse and inspiring city. In the series premiere, a man discovered in the street bleeding from numerous gunshot wounds brings multiple teams of EMTs to the scene. While they work furiously to keep the victim alive before taking him to the hospital, the police immediately begin the investigation. As the evening goes on, the calls keep coming. The fire fighters encounter a case of suspected arson and the EMTs at the scene of a car accident catch a driver who refuses to admit he is on drugs.
Season 2 of NIGHTWATCH premiered on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on A&E. In the second season, the overnight shift in the city of New Orleans continues to bring extreme and complex incidents to the EMS teams. Season 2 highlights include a dire situation at Mardi Gras for EMT's Titus and Dan when they must race to save an 18-year old who has suffered a through and through gunshot wound to the head. SWAT officers Jay and Alley enter into a high speed chase that becomes potentially devastating when the driver in pursuit opens fire on them. And things take a bizarre turn when officer Keeley responds to a woman whose eyeball has been bitten out in street fight. But when one of their own, a beloved officer is killed on duty, the whole city comes together in true New Orleans fashion in celebration of his life and years of service.
A&E premiered the 10-episode third season of NIGHTWATCH on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT. In the new season, the New Orleans EMS are cutting the ribbon on a brand-new facility after losing their home base during the devastation of Hurricane Katrina more than a decade ago. As their beloved city sees a crippling spike in heroin overdoses, everyone from the police to the EMS are on high alert as drug deaths skyrocket. And when a fellow police officer is struck down while on duty, the entire NIGHTWATCH family must rally around each other and the community for support. In the premiere episode, the NOLA EMS team celebrates the opening of its new headquarters, finally complete after ten years of working out of trailers. Meanwhile, Titus has his own new beginning as he's received his paramedic's license and he and long-time partner Dan must adjust to their new shared roles in a variety of calls. And new team, Arkady and Ted, get to know each other's styles in their first shifts together. NIGHTWATCH returned for new episodes, set in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT. The hour-long series follows elite teams of emergency responders as they risk their lives to work the critical and daunting overnight shift in Tampa, the sun baked city by the bay where as many as 850 emergency calls come in every night. These brand new episodes of NIGHTWATCH chronicle the heroic work being done between the hours of 8pm and 4am by the fearless first responders with the police and fire rescue teams in the city of Tampa, Florida. As the rest of the city goes to sleep, these real-life heroes boldly save lives and keep the streets safe. Known for its beaches and prime Sunshine State location, Tampa also has a dark side. In the Tampa Fire Rescue, the stations take on dual roles -- they fight fires with brawn and grit, but they also provide meticulous emergency medical care. In the Tampa Police Department, officers on the ROC Squad (Rapid Offender Control) patrol the streets responding to a wide variety of calls such as armed robberies, shootings, stolen cars, and narcotics cases. Above them all, the Tampa Air Service team flies helicopters that give the medical and law enforcement professionals a unique perspective and a huge advantage when lives are on the line. In the premiere Tampa episode, we meet the brave members of the police and fire rescue departments that risk their lives every night patrolling the city to protect its residents. Police officers Robb and Bethany find themselves in an armed standoff with a suspect who has been holed up in an apartment complex. And fire rescue team Billy Mayville and Eric Stokes must put out a trailer fire that threatens to incinerate the rest of the residential park.
