Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2009, the HALO AWARDS (Helping and Leading Others Awards) allow Hollywood stars to honor teens who work hard to make the world a better place, giving each youngster a grant to help them fulfill their own dreams. Whether they're providing aid to victims of a devastating tornado in Tuscaloosa, encouraging teens find their voices, or building soccer fields around the world, these teenagers are helping and leading others. Originally airing on TeenNick, the awards show switched to Nick at Nite in 2011 as the event increased in popularity. The fifth annual TEENNICK HALO AWARDS was broadcast live for the first time ever on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 8pm ET (live)/PT (tape delay) on Nick at Nite, as Josh Hutcherson, Queen Latifah, Chris Paul and Shay Mitchell joined creator, host and executive producer Nick Cannon at the Hollywood Palladium to honor four exceptional teens. In 2014, the HALO AWARDS was again televised as a one-hour taped special, broadcast two weeks after the event on Nickelodeon, TeenNick and Nicktoons. One year later, Viacom added TV Land and CMT as simulcast partners for the one-hour special.

On Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 7pm ET/PT, Nickelodeon, TeenNick, and NickToons broadcast the ninth annual HALO AWARDS, hosted by Nick Cannon from New York's Pier 36. This one-hour special -- for an event held three weeks earlier on Saturday, November 4 -- celebrates the commitment to service made by these four kids: Andrew Dunn (age: 14; hometown: Louisville, KY), who started his organization, RAK Louisville (Random Acts of Kindness Louisville), in an effort to flood Louisville with kindness; Raegan Junge (12; Keystone, IA), who saw the destruction from a tornado in Missouri on the news when she was six and sold homemade bracelets at a local store to raise $1,600 for a couple affected by the tragedy, leading her to start Raegan's Relief Efforts, an organization that fundraises through bracelet, lip balm and garage sales, and donates and delivers products to people who have been affected by natural disasters; Zoe Terry (11; Miami, FL), who was bullied for the color of her skin and hair texture at a young age and founded Zoe's Dolls, an organization that focuses on girl empowerment and combats bullying through a variety of programs and events that incorporate fitness, self-expression and community spirit; and Caleb White (15; Detroit, MI), who, after observing a homeless man sleeping on the streets of the Motor City, started a community-wide effort, Caleb White Project, to combat homelessness and help build youth leaders through volunteerism. The event also featured performances by Kelly Clarkson, Kelsea Ballerini, Hey Violet, Why Don't We, Ayo & Teo and Jacob Sartorius, along with appearances by Nick stars JoJo Siwa (LIP SYNC BATTLE SHORTIES), Lizzy Greene (NICKY, RICKY, DICKY & DAWN), Ricardo Hurtado (SCHOOL OF ROCK), and Daniella Perkins & Owen Joyner (KNIGHT SQUAD). Plus, Clarkson was presented with the HALO Hall of Fame Award, an honor given to a celebrity who helps and leads others by making the world a better place, in recognition of her work with a wide variety of organizations including: XQ Super School; Donor's Choose Harvey Fund; Miracle on Broadway, an annual concert she created that benefits local Nashville nonprofits; March of Dimes, for which she serves as a celebrity ambassador; and Musicians on Call.
