Plot Synopsis

With the help of music industry superstars Gloria Estefan, John Rich, Nelly and Joe Jonas, up-and-coming local musicians compete against each other for a recording contract with Atlantic Records. In each of the preliminary episodes, the program moves to a new city, where each superstar grooms one contestant for 72 hours. Even though these musicians have throngs of local fans, they just need a little help making the leap from opening act to headliner; so the superstar takes over their lives for three days -- tagging along to their day job, eating every meal with them, and hanging with them at their local karaoke dive bar. When that 72-hour mentoring session is up, the four newly groomed artists go head-to-head at a well-known local venue, where their friends, family and fans assemble with their local groupies and cheerleaders. One winner is chosen and that contestant represents their city in the finals. Then it's on to the next city and four more contestants. After visiting six cities, viewers vote for their favorite among the performers who didn't make the first cut, and the contestant with the most votes goes to the finals. Those six regional winners and the fan favorite then compete on stage over the final episodes until only one contestant remains.
