Plot Synopsis
NATE & JEREMIAH BY DESIGN is a one-hour reality series that follows interior designer Nate Berkus and his husband, interior designer Jeremiah Brent, as they juggle married life and raising their baby daughter, Poppy, while helping distressed homeowners turn a disaster into a dream home. In each 60-minute episode, Nate and Jeremiah use their talent and irresistible charm to transform lives through design, rescuing homeowners who have gone over budget and over schedule on renovation projects and cannot see an end in sight. With budget at the forefront and the couple's lifestyle in mind, Nate and Jeremiah boldly revisit the home's layout to build a practical-yet-stylish space. They then search high and low for unique design pieces to bring character and a personal touch into these refreshed dwellings. But the joys and challenges that Nate and Jeremiah encounter professionally are nothing in comparison to those faced in their most important job, as fathers to baby Poppy. The proud parents bring the audience inside their private life to see firsthand how they balance demanding careers and spending time with "the girl that changed everything." In the series opener, "Belgian Countryside," Nate and Jeremiah rescue Brenda and Scott who they find trapped and gasping for air in their house turned construction zone. The couple is hit with overwhelming joy and relief when the designer duo first appear at the family's doorstep. As Brenda and Scott struggle to make an executive decision, Nate and Jeremiah take control and tackle the challenge of transforming the old money pit into a new masterpiece. Despite the $40,000 budget, the talented designers rely on a little help from their friends to make the family's dream come true. Before they begin, however, Nate and Jeremiah must finish moving into their Beverly Hills abode with Poppy. Will the talented dads be able to balance their personal life while rescuing Brenda and Scott from their never-ending nightmare?
Season 2 of NATE & JEREMIAH BY DESIGN premiered on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10:10pm ET/PT on TLC. The second season was scheduled to shoot from October 2017 through January 2018 in the Greater Los Angeles area, where homeowners applied to be part of the show. To be eligible, homeowners must have had a budget of at least $75,000 to be considered for participation, and must be available for fives, possibly nonconsecutive, days during that time period. In the season opener, "California Modern," Jerald and Hiyas couldn't afford their dream home, so they settled on a fixer upper across the street and called upon Nate and Jeremiah to help them create the kitchen of their dreams.

On Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, TLC premiered the third season of NATE & JEREMIAH BY DESIGN. This season the stakes are even higher, and Nate and Jeremiah are pulling out all the stops to tackle the most challenging renovations to date. In each episode, viewers will see families whose 'money pits' have strained relationships and drained finances, and it's up to Nate and Jeremiah to save the day. These design heroes aren't just transforming homes, they're saving relationships and reviving dreams -- one reno at a time. Through it all - the bad renovations, failed DIY projects and traditional 'money pits' - Nate and Jeremiah somehow find time to spend with the two most important people in their lives: almost four-year-old daughter Poppy and the newest member of the family, 11-month-old Oskar. The proud parents bring the audience inside their private lives to see how they juggle demanding careers and a young family.
In the season opener, "Luxury Retreat," Albert and Anna have found each other later in life and are tired of trying to make up for lost time when it comes to their dream home. He promised Anna that he would turn their hilltop fixer-upper into the home of their dreams. Albert wants to give her a walk-in closet and master bedroom, but the budget is just not there -- and three years later, she's still waiting for that dream to come true. Nate and Jeremiah hope they can finally help Albert keep his promise
Season 3 also features these couples, all in a wide variety of desperate situations:
- Life has been up and down for Lauren and George, who found out that they are expecting soon after buying their first home and after Lauren lost her job.
- Meanwhile, the Barnes family of four have been sleeping on air mattresses on the floor until their stairs to the second floor are renovated.
- To top off the list, the Picarellis' weekly Italian Sunday dinners mean that their kitchen and dining room have to somehow accommodate more than 30 family members.
With such fraught circumstances, it will take a whole lot of talent and creativity to get the job done. Luckily for these families, Nate and Jeremiah are up for the challenge.
