Plot Synopsis

Chart-topping Rayna Jaymes is a country-music legend who's struggling to maintain her popularity, while at home her estranged father is scheming to back her husband Teddy's run for Nashville mayor -- against her wishes. Rayna has had a career any singer would envy, though lately her popularity is starting to wane and she's not packing the arenas like she used to. Her record label thinks a concert tour, opening for up-and-comer Juliette Barnes, the young and sexy future of country music, is just what Rayna needs. The scheming Juliette can't wait to steal Rayna's spotlight, but Rayna won't give up that easily, as she taps the undiscovered songwriting talent of Scarlett O'Connor. Meanwhile, Rayna's father, Lamar Wyatt, is a powerful force in business and Tennessee politics who causes havoc in the lives of his two grown daughters. NASHVILLE returned for its second season on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, picking up with the aftermath of the car crash in the Season 1 finale. Now, Rayna is in a coma and Deacon is left to wait on his pending jail sentence. Teddy is still shell-shocked about Peggy's pregnancy and struggles to understand where he belongs. Meanwhile, Maddie grapples with the revelation that Deacon is her father and, feeling alone, turns to Juliette, unwittingly revealing the details of what happened before the traumatic crash. And Gunnar and Scarlett's relationship becomes even more complicated after the proposal, so they turn to their friends, Will and Zoey, for support. NASHVILLE returned for its third season on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC. In the Season 3 opener, "That's Me Without You," a torn Rayna must choose not just between two men, but two directions that her life could take. Juliette, struggling to repair her relationship with Avery, auditions for the leading role of a film biopic. Meanwhile, Scarlett, determined to start fresh, embarks on a road trip home and bonds with an unexpected stowaway, and Will and Layla manage the fallout from his on-camera confession. This season premiere features three live performances within the episode, each performed twice -- once for east coast and once for west coast: real-life superstar duo Florida Georgia Line performs one of their songs; Chris Cormack sings "If It's Love," written by the Striking Matches; and Charles Esten sings a song he co-wrote with Deanna Carter, "I Know How to Love You Now." NASHVILLE returned for its fourth season on Wednesday, September, 23, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC. In the season opener, "Can't Let Go," Steven Tyler guest stars as himself to sing a duet of "Crazy" with Juliette Barnes. With Juliette's starring role in the Patsy Cline bio-pic, she is at an all-time career high, but is hitting a personal low. Meanwhile Avery, separated from Juliette, tends to baby Cadence at his parents' home in Texas. Rayna, along with her family and friends, grapple with the chilling aftermath of Deacon's liver transplant. On Thursday, January 5, 2017, CMT debuted the two-hour Season 5 premiere of NASHVILLE. The fifth season begins with Rayna and Deacon facing a new normal with Maddie now back home and Highway 65 struggling financially. The shocking news about Juliette creates a wave of emotions throughout Nashville and sets Rayna off on a journey of discovery. The upcoming season features Joseph David-Jones as Clay, Rhiannon Giddens as Hallie Jordan, Jen Richards as Allyson Del Lago, and Cameron Scoggins as Zach Welles in recurring roles. NASHVILLE returned for its Season 5 midseason premiere on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on CMT, with Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday joining the series in the second half of the fifth season. In addition, Jeff Nordling will recur in the role of Brad Maitland, an extremely successful, charming, egotistical, narcissistic owner of the most successful record label in Nashville. Bilson plays Alyssa Greene, a Silicon Valley marketing expert who is brought in to take Highway 65 to the next level. She isn't a country music fan, which she's not afraid to admit because the product doesn't matter to her. It's all about breaking through the old models and winning through disruption. Driven and brilliant, she'll do anything to avoid showing vulnerability in business and relationships. Doubleday portrays Jessie Caine, a singer/songwriter who left Nashville a few years ago under a cloud of scandal, but has returned to reclaim her career and the son that was taken from her. Doubleday's character will be introduced during the series' 100th episode on June 15 and Bilson will join a few episodes later. The midseason premiere picks up 10 weeks after the events that unfolded in the midseason finale, as Deacon helps Daphne with a school project -- but Daphne feels unmotivated. Meanwhile, Juliette gives Maddie unsolicited advice about a song, and Scarlett and Gunnar receive news about the baby. The 16-episode sixth and final season of NASHVILLE premiered on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on CMT. With New Year's Eve looming, Deacon looks to distract himself from his own loneliness, but falls short despite the best efforts of people around him. After an onstage meltdown, Juliette seeks to rid herself of self-doubt and the burden of unforgiving country music fans from an unlikely source. Maddie gets invited to perform at a benefit in Los Angeles where she meets Jonah Ford, pop music's newest and hottest young star. Following their personal and professional split, Gunnar and Scarlett struggle to find their voices as solo artists. Will attempts to keep smiling after his own break-up with Zach. In the season opener, "New Strings," after a public meltdown, Juliette seeks to change her life from an unlikely source. Scarlett and Maddie take a trip. Maddie meets Jonah Ford, a famous pop star. Scarlett struggles to find herself. Will coaches Gunnar. Deacon deals with loneliness. Josh Stamberg, Jake Etheridge, Rainee Lyleson, Nic Luken and Dylan Arnold join the cast of season 6 in recurring roles. Josh Stamberg plays Darius, an extremely charismatic founder of a self-actualization movement that has transformed many lives. Musician and acting newcomer Jake Etheridge recurs as Sean, a recent military veteran who suffers from severe PTSD and has yet to embrace his talent and passion for music. Rainee Lyleson is Alannah, a singer-songwriter who is a newcomer to the Nashville music scene and starts out as a backup singer but soon will be discovered for the star that she actually is meant to be. Nic Luken plays Jonah Ford, a pop star who is very handsome, extremely confident and charming and exudes all the qualities of a superstar. Dylan Arnold is Twig, a childhood friend of Jonah and a member of his entourage who navigates this lifestyle by guarding his anxiety and pain with a caustic, brilliant sense of humor. On Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on CMT, NASHVILLE returned for the first of its final eight episodes. The series will close with its final episode on Thursday, July 26. When the series returns this summer, NASHVILLE features two new recurring roles with the additions of Ronny Cox and Mia Maestro. Cox has been cast in the recurring role of Gideon, a recently reformed, lifelong alcoholic. He's come back to try and heal a long broken relationship with his son, Deacon. Gideon is a crusty, frustrated, would-be musician, who resented his son's success. Mia Maestro has been cast in the recurring role of Rosa, who is a dedicated follower of Darius' Movement who is now having doubts about her role in it. In the mid-season finale, Daphne sought to establish her career and auditioned for a country music singing competition. Scarlett invited Sean to see live music. Avery made a decision. The band was invited to perform on late night TV. Will's choice caught up with him. In the mid-season premiere, "Pick Yourself Up," after his collapse while performing at the late night show, Will recovers in the hospital and frets about his future. Brad gets a restraining order against Deacon, fueling conflict between Deacon and Jessie.
