Plot Synopsis
The NAACP IMAGE AWARDS celebrates the accomplishments of people of color working in the fields of literature, music, television and film. The awards also honor individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. Founded on February 12, 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. The IMAGE AWARDS were first held on February 4, 1967 at the Beverly Hilton, first televised in 1974 and first broadcast live in 2007. The NAACP President's Award, chosen by the NAACP President and CEO, is bestowed in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service. In 2023, the show was in front of an audience for the first time in three years, after being virtual/remote in 2021 and 2022.
