Plot Synopsis

MUTANT PLANET is a one-hour documentary series that reveals how nature affects animals, including their appearance, patterns of behavior, and physical capabilities, showing how these creatures flourish through natural selection. Each 60-minute episode focuses on key animals in six regions of Earth, taking a journey from detection through discovery to understand the forces that provide stimuli for animal evolution.

MUTANT PLANET returned for its second season on Science Channel on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT. The Season 2 opener, "Madagascar," explores the land of lemurs, an ancient primate family that evolved from only one small group which arrived on the island more than 60 million years ago. For them, Madagascar became the land of evolutionary opportunity and today there are almost 100 living species.
