Plot Synopsis

Using re-enactments, archival video and photographs, and first-person interviews, MURDER IN PARADISE chronicles vacations to tropical oases that become backdrops for cold and senseless killings. These unwitting victims head for idyllic destinations, hoping that a change in scenery offers respite from everyday concerns, but they find that romantic sunsets and enchanting culture hide danger and death. Each one-hour episode features a single crime involving these people on vacation: Julie Scully, who left her family in December 1998 for a romantic affair in the gorgeous Greek seaside town of Kavala and went missing one month later from Athens; former boxing champ Arturo Gatti, who got in a heated quarrel with his wife, Amanda, at the idyllic resort of Porto de Galinhas, Brazil, where he showed up dead on the hotel room floor -- just hours after their spat; Richard Post in Tijuana, Mexico; Jake and Kelley Branam off the coast of Bahamas' Bimini Island; Shannon Martin in Golfito, Costa Rica; and Anthony Ashley-Cooper, the 10th Earl of Shaftesbury, in Cannes, France.
