Plot Synopsis

From the Carolina backroads to the Appalachian mountains, MOONSHINERS: SMOKE RING is a competition series that spotlights the underground world of barbeque and pitmasters, who use their special skill-sets to compete for the title of Smoke Ring champion. In each episode, MOONSHINERS' Stephen Ray Tickle and "Hogfather" Tank Jackson welcome a new group of pitmasters taking on new recipe challenges, as they try to impress Tickle and a guest judge, including Sam Jones, Ed and Ryan Mitchell, Chris Lilly, Emily Hahn, and Carey Bringle (aka Peg Leg Porker). MOONSHINERS: SMOKE RING debuted on discovery+ on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Seven-and-a-half months later, the series made its linear television debut on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel.
