Plot Synopsis

Fish biologist, conservationist and National Geographic Explorer Zeb Hogan continues his mission to find and research the world's largest freshwater fish. He investigates flying fish from Asia that are invading America's waterways like zombies in a b-movie; goes in search of one of North America's toothiest and most misunderstood monster fish: the alligator gar; and navigates class five rapids on a quest to locate a new species in one of the most unforgiving environments on the planet. Nat Geo Wild premiered a new season of MONSTER FISH on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 10pm ET, as Zeb went on a mission to discover if the legendary giant catfish of the South really exist.

MONSTER FISH returned for its fifth season on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild. In Season 5, Zeb is on the hunt for monster fish so obscure they've seldom been seen in the wild. With very little scientific information available, he hopes to catch, research and release some truly rare underwater behemoths in order to better understand and protect them. Down under in Australia, he searches for a river shark so mysterious that an adult has never been positively identified in the wild. Braving the black waters of the Brazilian Amazon, he carefully navigates past anacondas and piranhas to study the shock of the stealthy giant electric eel. And to reel in the obscure river wolf fish, he teams up with remote tribesmen in heart of Guyana who share their poisonous fishing techniques.
