Plot Synopsis

In this multi-camera comedy series, Christy, a newly sober single mom, tries to pull her life together in Napa Valley, where she raises two children, teenager Violet and eight-year-old Roscoe, while working at a local upscale restaurant. As she's evaluating her life, she realizes her mother, Bonnie, may be the source of many prior issues, because she wasn't the best mom in the world. Now, Christy must juggle relationships with her mom, her ex-husband Baxter, and her children, who have become more challenging. At the restaurant, Christy works with Gabriel, the good-looking but married manager, and Rudy, the hot-tempered chef.

The Season 2 premiere of MOM -- originally scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2014 at 8:30pm ET/PT and changed just days beforehand -- debuted on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 8:30pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "Hepatitis and Lemon Zest," Bonnie is furious when Christy's poor financial decisions threaten the family's living situation. Also, Christy agrees to help out Jill, a woman who is newly sober.

MOM returned for its third season on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. Beginning this season, Jaime Pressly has been added as a series regular. Pressly, who began guest-starring on the series in Season 2, plays Jill, a rich, self-obsessed divorcee who has been through rehab a few times and is working hard on her sobriety with the help of her friend and sponsor, Christy. Beth Hall, who plays Wendy, has also been promoted to series regular, while Harry Hamlin and Emily Osment have been cast in recurring roles for Season 3. In the season opener, "Terrorists and Gingerbread," Christy and Bonnie have different ideas about forgiveness when Bonnie's mother, Shirley (guest star Ellen Burstyn), who abandoned her as a small child, suddenly wants to be a part of their lives. By the end of Season 3, Christy has gone back to school and is pursuing her dream of becoming a lawyer, while Bonnie attempts to have a healthy romantic relationship and figure out what she wants to be when she grows up. Through all this, Christy and Bonnie rely on their support system from AA, including wise Marjorie, the wealthy and sometimes misguided Jill and the overly emotional Wendy.

The fourth season of MOM premiered on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. For the show's fourth season, William Fichtner has been promoted to series regular, and guest stars for the new season include Rosie O'Donnell, Bradley Whitford, Nicole Sullivan, and more. In the season opener, "High-Tops and Brown Jacket," Bonnie and Adam's relationship is tested when he moves in with her and Christy for a few weeks. Also, Christy learns the hard way that it may be a mistake to try and meet men with Jill.

Season 5 of MOM premiered on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "Twinkle Lights and Grandma Shoes," Bonnie gets cold feet when considering her future with Adam, and Christy risks failing an important test in order to help a fellow alcoholic. Missi Pyle returns as Natasha, the birth mother of Jill's foster daughter.

On Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, CBS premiered the sixth season of MOM. On Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS, MOM returns for its eighth season. In Season 8, Bonnie must learn to adjust without her daughter and former-roommate, Christy, around. With a chaotic past behind her and a newly empty nest, she focuses on her marriage to her husband, Adam, and on what she wants to be now that she's finally grown up. Now more than ever, Bonnie depends on the support of her friends, including the wise Marjorie, the wealthy and sometimes misguided Jill, the overly emotional Wendy and her foster sister, Tammy, who was recently released from prison. Collectively, they help each other overcome their mistakes and stay sober in the face of whatever life throws at them. In the season opener, "Sex Bucket and the Grammar Police," Bonnie invites the ladies to a slumber party, where childhood games reveal adult problems.
