Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel of the same name by Tom Perrotta, MRS. FLETCHER is a dual coming-of-age story chronicling the personal and sexual journeys of an empty-nest mother and her college freshman son, who both embrace their newfound freedom with mixed results. As the series begins, Eve Fletcher, a mid-40s single mom who works as the executive director of a senior center, drops her only child off at college and returns home to a very empty house. Meanwhile, Eve's son Brendan, a popular (though sometimes clueless) jock, finds college is a little more complicated than he expected and struggles to make connections with his more socially and politically aware fellow students. As mother and son find themselves alone for the first time, this sharp, provocative series navigates themes of parenthood, sexuality, love, and identity in a cultural moment when attitudes about gender and sex are evolving rapidly.

"Free Sample" (Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 10:30pm): While Brendan gets settled at BSU, Eve finds herself torn between the fantasy world of internet porn and the prospect of a real-life date. Roy Rafferty gets into some trouble at the Senior Center. Written by Dana Fish; directed by Liesl Tommy.

"Care Package" (Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 10:30pm): Brendan visits a peer support group and makes a new friend. After a troubling encounter with her ex-husband, Ted, Eve bonds with her community college writing class at a local bar. Written by Jeremy Beiler; directed by Liesl Tommy.

"Parents' Weekend" (Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 10:30pm): Eve and her colleague Amanda, attend a wake. Meanwhile, Brendan reconnects with Ted at Parents' Weekend, and Margo and Curtis go on a first date. Written by Eric Ledgin; directed by Carrie Brownstein.

"Invisible Fence" (Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 10:30pm): Eve gets out of her comfort zone, joining Margo at a hip party in Brooklyn. Brendan and Chloe have an unexpected encounter at a college event promoting body-positivity. Written by Elle McLeland; directed by Carrie Brownstein.

"Solar Glow" (Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 10:30pm): While helping her friend Jane through a marital crisis, Eve is distracted by a series of flirtatious texts. Brendan and Chloe have a study date. Written by Kate Thulin; directed by Gillian Robespierre.

"Welcome Back" (series finale premieres Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 10:55pm): Eve celebrates a life-changing decision. Brendan has an epiphany about college. Sanjay does a good deed. Written by Tom Perrotta; directed by Gillian Robespierre.
