Season 1 Season 2
Plot Synopsis
Executive produced by Charlize Theron and director David Fincher, MINDHUNTER is a one-hour drama series that follows a frustrated FBI hostage negotiator, Holden Ford, as he struggles to comprehend incarcerated murderers, so that he might use this knowledge to catch others, like serial killers. He teams with veteran agent Bill Tench in the Behavioral Science Unit and works with his sometimes reluctant partner to find new methods of investigation. Together they meet some of America's gravest killers, including the eerily articulate murderer Ed Kemper -- and face the cynicism and scorn of the tradition-bound hierarchy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the late 1970s. And after Holden and Tench have their first success, Dr. Wendy Carr helps them, eventually joining the team full time. Ford risks empathizing with 'evil' in order to save lives. But, as Tench says, when arguing the case for their work: "How do we get ahead of crazy if we don't know how crazy thinks?" On Friday, October 13, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the entire first season of MINDHUNTER.

Season 2 of MINDHUNTER debuted on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire nine-episode second season. In the new season, the Behavioral Science Unit's killer instincts move from theory into action when the FBI joins in a high-profile hunt for a serial child murderer. Amid sweeping changes at the BSU, Holden deals with severe repercussions from his close encounter with Ed Kemper. To glean insight into the elusive BTK killer, Bill and Holden interview the Son of Sam, who makes a startling admission.
