Plot Synopsis

In THE MIND OF A MURDERER, Dr. Michelle Ward goes behind bars to interview violent murderers and offer insight into what drives people to kill. Each episode of this series begins with Dr. Ward's mission, whether it's to get the criminal to confess, to demonstrate remorse, or to tell parts of the story that they've never shared before. She looks at the evidence to formulate a theory on the killer's true psyche before conducting the interview. Then, viewers experience first-hand, the in-person interviews with the killers, which are contrasted with emotional statements from the victims' families and friends who are so desperately seeking closure. Each one-hour episode focuses on a different murderer, including: Wall Street lawyer Jason Bohn, who mercilessly strangled and beat his girlfriend to death in their NYC apartment; Janene Patton, who killed her husband Troy with one shot to the head after a heated argument over an alleged affair; Karl Knapp, who brutally gunned down his ex-girlfriend Jane Johnston, along with two other innocent people at her job; and many more coldblooded killers. Season 2 of THE MIND OF A MURDERER premiered on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Urge to Kill," from the outside it appears 21-year-old Matthew Cushing has a perfect life, but he shocks everyone when he murders three in his family. Could anyone have predicted this tragedy? Dr. Michelle Ward meets Matthew in prison to unearth his dark secret.

On Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the Season 2 finale of THE MIND OF A MURDERER. In the season ender, "Bad Blood," 16-year-old Rod Ferrell took a drug-fueled road trip and viciously bludgeoned a couple to death in their home. Was Rod a wayward teen or is that just what he wants everyone to believe? Dr. Michelle Ward will meet him face to face to determine just that.
