Plot Synopsis
Hosted by Dean Cain, MASTERS OF ILLUSION is a half-hour series that features cutting-edge illusionists and escape artists performing interactive mind magic, great escapes, sleight-of-hand tricks, and large scale illusions -- all in front of a live studio audience. Filming in locations like Los Angeles' Hollywood Boulevard, New York's Times Square and venues in New Orleans and Orlando, each 30-minute episode highlights the feats of eight performers, including: Jan Rouven, Jared & Raja, Michael Finney, Nathan Burton, Michael Grandinetti, Jonathon Pendragon, Rob Lake, Spencer Horsman, Michael Giles, Eric Buss, Johnny Ace Palmer, and more. Beginning on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 9:30pm ET/PT, MASTERS OF ILLUSION returned for its winter premiere with four original episodes from the first season.
The 13-episode second season of MASTERS OF ILLUSION premiered on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW. Hosted again by Dean Cain, this series continued to feature magic performed by illusionists and escape artists, and performers in each episode display skills ranging from interactive mind magic to comedy routines. The season opener, "Spinning the Classics," featured performances by Greg Frewin, Barry & Stuart, Sos & Victoria, Murray SawChuck, Michael Turco and Rick Thomas. The third cycle of MASTERS OF ILLUSION premiered with back-to-back new episodes Friday, May 20, 2016 from 8-9pm ET/PT on The CW, with Dean Cain returning as host. The season opener (8pm), "Techno Magic, Quick Change and a Guillotine," features these magicians: Greg Frewin, Barry and Stuart, Jason Bishop, Michael Grandinetti, Jonathan Pendragon, David and Dania, Bill Cook and Les Arnold and Dazzle. Then, in the night's second episode (8:30pm), "A Magical Smorgasbord," Tommy Wind, Murray Sawchuck, Trigg Watson, Farrell Dillion, Jason Bird, Tom Burgoon and Jonathan Pendragon perform illusions, escapes and mind magic.
On Friday, June 30, 2017 from 8-9pm ET/PT, The CW premiered the fourth season of MASTERS OF ILLUSION, showing back-to-back new episodes, as host Dean Cain returns for another season of astonishing feats of magic performed by cutting-edge illusionists and escape artists.
Season 5 of MASTERS OF ILLUSION premiered on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW, with host Dean Cain returning for amazing magic performed by cutting-edge illusionists, escape artists and performers. Magicians featured in this episode include Rick Smith Jr., Ed Alonzo, Samantha Bell, Joel Meyers, Keelan & Keyser, Shoot Ogawa and Andy Gladwin.
The sixth season of MASTERS OF ILLUSION, with Dean Cain returning as host, premiered on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 8-9pm ET/PT, as The CW debuted back-to-back new episodes: "Goth Magic, Deceptive Antics, and Water Submersion" (8pm): Featured magicians include Dan Sperry, Joshua Jay, Anna DeGuzman, Shoot Ogawa, Naathan Phan, Jeki Yoo and Greg Frewin. "Dancing Objects, Neon Magic, and Ed Alonzo" (8:30pm): Featured magicians include Eric Buss, Titou, Joseph Gabriel, Ed Alonzo, Eric Jones and Jarol Martin.
Season 7 of MASTERS OF ILLUSION premiered on Friday, May 15, 2020 from 8-9pm ET/PT on The CW with back-to-back new episodes, immediately followed by an encore presentation of a one-hour special. The series opener (8pm), "Quick Changes, the Bird King, and Very Sharp Objects," features these magicians: Jeki Yoo & Ellie, Dan Sperry, Trigg Watson, Josephine Lee, Hakan Berg and Hans Klok. The second episode (8:30pm), "The Sphere of Fog, Crossbows, and More Ed Alonzo," includes Tommy Wind, Louie Foxx, Alexandra Duvivier, Ben Blaque, Ed Alonzo and Jason Bishop.
On Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT, The CW premiered the eighth season of MASTERS OF ILLUSION, airing a new episode followed by an encore episode. The season debut featured magicians Ed Alonzo, Rob Lake, Shoot Ogawa, Clairvoyants, Stuart MacDonald and Eric Buss.
On Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT, The CW premiered "Christmas Magic 2022," a one-hour MASTERS OF ILLUSION holiday special. Hosted by Dean Cain, the Christmas program features some of today's hottest magicians, including Ed Alonzo, Trigg Watson, Rudy Coby, Nick Dupuch, Chipper Lowell, Farrell Dillon, Xavier Mortimer, The Clairvoyants, Naathan Phan, Krystina Lambert, and many more.
MASTERS OF ILLUSION returned for its ninth season on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 8pm ET/PT on The CW, with Dean Cain returning as host. The season opener, "Deception, Heights, and One Crossbow," features these magicians: Ed Alonzo, Xavier Mortimer, Eric Buss, Farrell Dillon, Alexandra Duvivier and Deadly Games.
Season 10 of MASTERS OF ILLUSION premiered on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. Hosted by Dean Cain, the series continues to feature amazing magic performed by cutting-edge illusionists, escape artists and performers displaying skills ranging from perplexing interactive mind magic to hilarious comedy routines -- all in front of a studio audience. The season premiere, "Knives Out and Other Strange Magic," features these magicians: Ed Alonzo, Deadly Game, Lucy Darling, Joshua Jay, Lioz and Caleb Alexander. After a five-month break, MASTERS OF ILLUSION returned with new episodes on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. The mid-season premiere, "Flames, Floating, and Out of This World," features these magicians: Chipper Lowell, Reza, Eric Eaton, Joel Meyers, Adam Wylie and Trigg Watson.
