Plot Synopsis
Based on the comedic viewpoints of Aziz Ansari -- and loosely based on his own life experiences -- MASTER OF NONE is a fictional comedy series that follows Dev, a 30-year-old actor in New York who has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life. Ansari stars, writes, and directs Dev's story, which takes him through subjects as diverse as the plight of the elderly, the immigrant experience, and how to find the most delicious pasta for dinner. Ansari's real-life parents guest star as Dev's parents in the series. Netflix released the entire 10-episode first season of MASTER OF NONE on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT.
Netflix released the 10-episode second season of MASTER OF NONE on Friday, May 12 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. After traveling abroad, Dev returns to New York to take on challenges in his personal and family life, a new career opportunity, and a complex, developing relationship with someone very meaningful to him. Angela Bassett joins the show as Denise's mother. In the season opener, "The Thief," while studying pasta making in Italy, Dev makes a serendipitous connection on his birthday, only to have his plans upended by a thief.

MASTER OF NONE returned its third season on Sunday, May 23, 2021, as Netflix dropped all five episodes. Season 3 chronicles the relationship of Denise and her partner Alicia. Now a bestselling author, Denise leads a quiet life with her wife, Alicia, in upstate New York. But dinner with another couple leads to bigger questions. Directed by series co-creator Aziz Ansari, and scripted by Ansari and series star Lena Waithe, this new season is a modern love story that intimately illustrates the ups and downs of marriage, struggles with fertility, and personal growth both together and apart. Fleeting romantic highs meet crushing personal losses while existential questions of love and living are raised.
