Plot Synopsis

Based on the movie of the same name, MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is a half-hour animated series that follows the adventures of the brash Peter Quill/Star-Lord, who, to save the universe from its greatest threats, joins forces with a quartet of disparate misfits: the sassy, big-gun wielding Rocket Raccoon; a tree-like humanoid named Groot; the enigmatic, expert fighter Gamora; and the rough-edged warrior Drax the Destroyer. The animated series also introduces Cosmo, a spacedog that did not appear in the film. GUARDIANS opens with the newly-formed team finding a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Quill. Upon opening it, he unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It's up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe. On Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, Disney XD premiered a sneak-peek episode of the series, with the program's official debut three weeks later on Saturday, September 26 at 9:30pm ET/PT, as Disney XD showed back-to-back episodes including the installment it aired for the special preview.

MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY returned for its second season on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as Disney XD premiered back-to-back new episodes. Season 2 follows Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot on a mission to protect Star-Lord's home planet of Earth, when they cross pass with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers. After an epic battle, the two teams come together to save Earth from an alien mad scientist, The High Evolutionary, but inadvertently unleash an ancient weapon. With every alien baddie in the galaxy after this weapon, the Guardians must unlock its secrets before it destroys them and everything they've sworn to protect. In the season opener (9pm), "Stayin' Alive," while trying to dispose of Thanos' asteroid, the Guardians discover it has been taken to a secure facility that belongs to the Avengers. Then, in the night's second new episode (9:30pm), "Evolution Rock," the Guardians and the Avengers team up to find out what powerful secrets lie inside Thanos' asteroid.

On Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 9:30-11pm ET/PT, Disney XD premiered the Season 4 finale of MARVEL'S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, debuting three consecutive episodes:

"Breaking Stuff Is Hard to Do" (9:30pm): The Guardians and their friends search for the fragments of Dragonfang, a legendary weapon that will finally be able to defeat The Serpent forever.

"Killer Queen" (10pm): The Guardians, Loki and Iron Man travel to the castle of the evil Hela to ask her help in fighting The Serpent.

"Just One Victory" (10:30pm): With the Nova Corps defeated and the fate of the entire universe in jeopardy, the Guardians must turn to an unlikely ally to stop The Serpent.
