Plot Synopsis
Inspired by the feature films CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, this one-hour action drama series centers on Peggy Carter as she builds her career as a secret agent -- all while the love of her life, hero Steve Rogers, is frozen in ice. Peggy finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad in 1946. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), she must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in 1940s America in the wake of losing the love of her life. When Stark finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy -- the only person he can trust -- to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis, to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison -- or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims. MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER returned for a second season on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 with a two-hour season premiere (9-11pm ET/PT) on ABC. Dedicated to the fight against new Atomic Age threats in the wake of World War II, Peggy must now journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home -- perhaps even a new love -- she's about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect. In the season opener (9pm), "The Lady in the Lake," Peggy moves to the City of Angels to help Chief Daniel Sousa at the West Coast Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) investigate a bizarre homicide involving an alleged killer and Isodyne Energy, and reunites with some familiar faces. Then, in the night's second episode (10pm), "A View in the Dark," Peggy discovers her murder investigation has huge ramifications that can destroy her career, as well as everyone near and dear to her.
