Plot Synopsis

MARRIED is a half-hour comedy that centers on Russ and Lina Bowman, who can barely remember what life was like before kids, debt, and suburbia rained on their romance -- but every once in a while, in between the arguments about their declining sex life and who's driving carpool, they are reminded what drew them together in the first place -- they're best friends. Lina, a stay-at-home mom, often finds herself overwhelmed by the needs of her three children -- Frankie, Ella and Maya -- not to mention the needs of her childlike husband. Although she feels fortunate that she's gotten the opportunity to be at home with her children, now that they're all in school, she knows it's time to figure out the rest of her life. Russ, a freelance graphic designer struggling to support his family, longs for the time when he was just hanging out with his friends, designing surf boards and getting more attention from his wife. His best female friend, Jess, is always trying to get closer to Lina with mixed results. A bit of wild child, Jess often finds herself needing to leave her older husband Shepard and young son at home so she can go out and raise a little hell. Russ and Lina's other friend, AJ, is recently divorced and pretending he's over his wife, Roxanne. He's very generous when it comes to helping his friends; however, he's also self-destructive and often drags his friends into his world of pain. MARRIED returned for a second season on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT on FX. Russ and Lina have changed almost everything about themselves in order to be responsible parents, but once in a while they find time to remind each other of who they used to be. In Season 2, AJ is trying to chart his next move after a lost year of addiction; the May/December couple of Jess and Shep are finding that age isn't the greatest challenge in their relationship; single mother Abby becomes Lina's new ally at the school and her desperate need for approval keeps getting her in trouble; and the enabling Bernie is always willing to go along for the ride.

FX premiered the Season 2 finale of MARRIED on Thursday, October 1, 2015 from 10-11pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the night's first new episode (10pm), "Gymnastics," Russ and Lina bump into Russ's old flame at a gymnastics meet. Then, in the finale (10:30pm), "The Waiter," Russ and his assistant start to get too close. Lina and AJ work together on a children's play about the dangers of addiction.
