Plot Synopsis
MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP is a one-hour reality series that follows five couples as they live together in a house and undergo an extreme marriage boot camp so they can work out their relationship issues. During a two-week boot camp, counselors go head to head with the couples, putting them through a progressive series of strategic exercises and drills designed to get at the root of what's destroying their relationships. At the end of boot camp, the couples are faced with the ultimate decision: remain together or throw in the towel. The counselors are the husband-and-wife counseling team of Jim and Elizabeth Carroll, who are founders of The Marriage Boot Camp (http://www.marriagebootcamp.com). WEtv aired a one-hour preview special, BRIDEZILLAS: THE BOOT CAMP COUPLES, on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10pm ET, one day before the series premiere. In its first season, the series was known as MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP: BRIDEZILLAS, because it featured five women who previously appeared on BRIDEZILLAS. For the show's second season, which also featured women from BRIDEZILLAS, the title was shortened to MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP, so the participants in subsequent seasons no longer had to be former members of the wedding series. The five husband-wife pairs in Season 1 were: Melissa & Chris, who were planning for another child, adding to their brood that includes their two sons; Porsha & Byron, who had been married for a year-and-a-half with a blended family of four children; Remy & Rob, who married in May 2012 and lived in New Jersey, where Remy was a personal stylist; Kirsten & Seth, who lived on Florida's Gulf Coast with their two-year-old daughter; and Danni & Marlon, who had communication and intimacy issues following her post-partum depression. MARRIAGE BOOT CAMP returned for its second season on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on WEtv, featuring these couples: Tasha & Jeff a couple from Eastvale, CA, who had already filed papers to end their union; Blanca & Julian from Ontario, CA whose marriage had been torn apart because of finances; Sofia & Shaun from Philadelphia, PA who constantly got into screaming matches with each other; Mai-Lee & Tomas from Hialeah, FL who suffered from ongoing jealousy and trust issues; and Gloria & Mark from Columbus, OH whose marriage was simply on autopilot.
