Plot Synopsis

MAGNUM P.I. is a modern take on the classic series centering on Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator in Hawaii. A charming rogue, an American hero, and a die-hard Detroit Tigers fan, Magnum lives in a guest cottage on Robin's Nest, the luxurious estate where he works as a security consultant to supplement his P.I. business. The "majordomo" of the property is Juliet Higgins, a beautiful and commanding disavowed MI:6 agent whose second job is to keep Magnum in line, with the help of her two Dobermans. When Magnum needs back-up on a job, he turns to his trusted buddies and fellow POW survivors, Theodore 'TC' Calvin, a former Marine chopper pilot who runs Island Hoppers, a helicopter tour business, and Orville 'Rick' Wright, a former Marine door-gunner-turned-impresario of Oahu's coolest nightclub and the most connected man on the island. Suspicious of Magnum's casual attitude and presence at his crime scenes, Detective Gordon Katsumoto finds that he and Magnum are more alike than either of them care to admit. One of Magnum's biggest supporters is Teuila 'Kumu' Tuileta, the unofficial "House Mom" and cultural curator of Robin's Nest. With keys to a vintage Ferrari in one hand, aviator sunglasses in the other, and an Old Dusseldorf longneck chilling in the fridge, Thomas Magnum is back on the case.

The sophomore season of MAGNUM P.I. premiered on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. This season, Larry Manetti, who played Orville 'Rick' Wright in the original MAGNUM P.I., joins the reboot in the guest role of Nicky 'The Kid' DeMarco, who assists Rick in opening his new club LaMariana, which is poised to become Oahu's coolest tiki bar. In the season opener, "Payback for Beginners," while Magnum waits for Higgins to decide if she'll officially become his partner, he takes the case of a missing wife who witnessed her boss' murder during a bank robbery. Also, Rick makes a big decision about his career. On Friday, April 10, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT, CBS debuted "Say Hello to Your Past," the spring premiere of MAGNUM P.I. Magnum and Higgins must find Kumu when she's kidnapped by an injured man accused of killing his wife.

Season 3 of MAGNUM P.I. premiered on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "Double Jeopardy," Magnum and Higgins' new clients hire them to find their missing brother last seen on the island, leading to Higgins being shot and TC abducted when a secret case of revenge is revealed during the investigation. Also, Higgins (and Magnum!) are surprised when her surgeon asks her out. After a three-week break, MAGNUM P.I. returned with new episodes on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the winter premiere, "First the Beatdown, Then the Blowback," Magnum and Higgins help an up-and-coming mixed martial arts fighter who is being pressured by a gang to throw an illegal fight. Also, Kumu is arrested for stealing an artifact from a collector that should be returned to its original resting place.

The fourth season of MAGNUM P.I. debuted on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "Island Vibes," as s Magnum tries to keep his new relationship a secret and handles cases solo while Higgins is away, he is tasked with finding a single mom being hunted by two very dangerous gangs. Also, while Higgins is abroad with Ethan, a misstep forces her to assist an old employer, and Rick gets some bad, but also very, very good news. After a four-week break, MAGNUM P.I. returned with new episodes on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the winter premiere, "Dream Lover," when a woman hires Magnum and Higgins to locate a man she met briefly at a coffee shop and felt a spark with, they learn that he is hiding a big secret. Also, Higgins keeps a secret of her own after she has a romantic dream about Magnum.

MAGNUM P.I. returned for its fifth season on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 9-11pm ET/PT with back-to-back new episodes on a new network: NBC. In the season opener, "The Passenger" (9pm), Magnum and Higgins weigh the risks of pursuing a relationship; Rick juggles being a new father and running La Mariana. Katsumoto tries to figure out his next move. Then, in the night's second episode, "The Breaking Point" (10pm), Magnum and Higgins go undercover as lifeguards in order to solve a murder; Jin Jeong wins a storage unit auction and enlists the help of Rick and TC upon finding a stolen military medal. MAGNUM P.I. aired regularly at 9pm on Sundays on NBC. After a 5.5-month break, MAGNUM P.I. returned with new episodes on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the fall premiere, "Hit and Run," Magnum and Higgins go to work for a dangerous and controversial client. Kumu and Shammy help move TC to a veterans' rehab facility. Rick flirts with a woman who works at the marina.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 9-11pm ET/PT, NBC debuted back-to-back episodes for the series finale of MAGNUM P.I.:

"Ashes to Ashes" (9pm): Magnum and Higgins re-examine a fatal arson investigation at the request of TC and Mahina, leading to a sinister discovery. Kumu volunteers with Rick at a veterans' crisis call center.

"The Big Squeeze" (10pm): Magnum and Higgins take a major step forward in their relationship. At the same time, the past comes back to haunt them when a previous suspect becomes their client. TC aims to scale up Island Hoppers. Rick gets a new business partner.
