Plot Synopsis
This one-hour drama series explores the personal and professional life of maverick female Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord, as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life. Elizabeth is married to Henry, a professor of medieval religious history, and they have three children: teenager Jason, a budding anarchist; his popular sister, Alison; and oldest daughter Stevie, who has returned home after dropping out of college. Elizabeth's staff, helmed by Chief of Staff Nadine Tolliver, includes: Blake, a young and loyal assistant, who is the only person on staff Elizabeth actually hired; speechwriter Matt; and press coordinator Daisy. Morgan Freeman is an executive producer of MADAM SECRETARY. This series premiered on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 8:30pm ET/8pm PT.
MADAM SECRETARY returned for its second season on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT on CBS. Also, Henry is asked to recruit one of his Russian students to work for the U.S. government by Jane Fellows, his new Defense Intelligence Agency handler.
