Plot Synopsis

Each Thanksgiving morning since 1948, NBC has broadcast the MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE. For 2023, the 97th annual parade -- hosted by the TODAY SHOW's Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker -- was broadcast from 8:30am-Noon on NBC in all time zones. NOTE: The parade starts half an hour earlier than previous years. Plus, Broadway stars Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells are on hand as special correspondents along the route.

This year's edition brings the nation together with a lineup featuring giant character helium balloons, fantastic floats, show-stopping marching bands, high-spirited performance groups, whimsical clowns, music stars and the one-and-only Santa Claus. The magic comes together with Macy's signature ingredients.

Cher performs at this year's event. THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRY JIMMY FALLON's host Jimmy Fallon and the show's house band, The Roots, also perform, while BEL-AIR star Jabari Banks will be aboard Peacock's float. Singer Jax is also scheduled to perform aboard "Geoffrey's Dazzling Dance Party" Toys "R" Us float. There are also appearances by Jon Batiste, Bell Biv DeVoe, Brandy, Chicago, En Vogue, ENHYPEN, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Jessie James Decker, Ashley Park with some Muppets from SESAME STREET, Pentatonix, Paul Russell, Amanda Shaw and Alex Smith, and Manuel Turizo. The parade also features performances from the best of Broadway in 2023, including & Juliet, Back to the Future: The Musical, How to Dance in Ohio, Shucked, Spamalot, as well as the iconic Radio City Rockettes.

Additional celebrities making an appearance at the parade include Kenan Thompson & Kel Mitchell, Bravo's Andy Cohen, Leslie Odom Jr., Lacey Chabert, and Abigail Spencer. U.S. Olympic Silver Medalist Jordan Chiles, U.S. track and field Paralympian Ezra Frech, U.S. Paralympic Gold Medalist swimmer Jessica Long, and Miss America 2023 Grace Stanke will also appear. So will Paris 2024 Olympic hopefuls in volleyball Kelly Cheng and Sarah Hughes, plus Paralympic track & field hopeful Ezra Frech.

A marching band from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, the scene of one of the nation's worst school shootings, will represent Florida. Other marching bands this year will represent Alabama, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Washington, New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Texas.
