Plot Synopsis

Widowed only a year, Walt Longmire -- the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming -- sets out to rebuild his personal life and becomes reinvigorated about his job, committed to running for re-election. Struggling since his wife's death and at the urging of his daughter, Cady, Walt knows that the time has come to turn his life around, often turning to close friend and confidant Henry Standing Bear for support. With the help of Vic, a female deputy new to the department, he starts his bid for re-election, but feels betrayed when Branch, an ambitious young deputy, decides to run against him for sheriff. In Season 2, which debuted on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT, Walt's reign as Sheriff hangs in the balance as he continues to fight for re-election against Branch, while Cady searches for answers about her mother's murder, with Walt's possible connection to the death of his wife's killer threatening to sweep his loyal friend Henry Standing Bear into the mix. LONGMIRE returned for its third season on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on A&E. In the Season 3 premiere, Walt deals with the aftermath of Henry's arrest and Branch's shooting. The search for the shooter, however, is complicated by Branch's insistence that it was someone known to be already dead. During the rest of Season 3, Walt finds himself reeling from a series of devastating traumas. His best friend, Henry Standing Bear, is going to prison on murder charges. Deputy Branch Connally has been shot by a mysterious "white warrior," and Vic Moretti is unsure if she has shaken a stalker from her past. Walt is forced to shoulder all of these burdens and try to find a way to set the world right again, but one person knows he can't do this alone -- his daughter, Cady . She will fight in court to try and clear Henry's name while Walt continues to unravel the dark, mysterious secrets of Absaroka County. The deeper Walt digs into all these mysteries, the closer he'll get to uncovering the real bloody hand behind his wife's murder. Netflix releases the 10-episode fourth season of LONGMIRE on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, picking up moments after the Season 3 finale. Walt Longmire, having found out who was behind the murder of his wife, succumbs to his darker impulses and takes off in pursuit of the killer with murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Branch Connally, the deputy who Walt fired for erratic, violent behavior, believes he has already figured out who the real culprit is. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun goes off. Now the audience will finally learn what happened, and whether Walt can be stopped before he makes a fatal choice. Season 5 of LONGMIRE premiered on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix releases the entire 10-episode fifth season. The new season picks up moments after the end of Season 4, as Walt and Dr. Donna were shot at his home. In the new season, Walt investigates a murder in Barlow Connally and a heroin operation, and deals with the return of Hector-signed vigilantism -- all while coming to terms with the fact that he was wrong about Jacob Nighthorse playing a role in his wife's murder.

On Friday, November 17, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the 10-episode sixth and final season of LONGMIRE. In the new season, Walt faces legal troubles that jeopardize his career and home as he, Vic and Henry fight to keep the peace. Season 6 opens with a bank robbery that ends in a shooting, giving Sawyer more leverage against Walt. When Henry goes missing, Cady tells Walt about a disturbing vision "We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories.
