Plot Synopsis
LIVING ALASKA is a reality series that follows families who relocate from the lower 48 states to Alaska, as they search for homes in the last frontier. Each 30-minute episode features a different family, including: Conlee and Brittany James, who are hunting for a home that works for them and their two young boys, after Conlee was transferred from sunny Pensacola to snowy Alaska for his job in the Air Force; and Minnesota couple Woody and Terri Woodworth, who are searching for their dream Alaskan fishing cabin on Kodiak Island. Before airing the official series premiere of LIVING ALASKA on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, HGTV presented four episodes as sneak peeks/specials: back-to-back episodes on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT and two more episodes on New Year's Day 2014 from 7-8pm ET/PT. LIVING ALASKA returned for its second season on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT on HGTV. In the season opener, Lisa and Dave Dewyngaert have decided to tmake the move from their home in New Hampshire to Palmer. Never having lived outside of the state (or even his childhood home), Dave is ready for a change of scenery and a slower pace; meanwhile, Lisa is excited to live in the wilderness and see wildlife right outside her front door. Season 4 of LIVING ALASKA premiered on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, as part of nine-hour marathon (6pm-3am). In the season opener, "Old Familiar Frontier," five moves in 12 years landed Emily and her husband Matt in England, but Emily has always dreamed of raising her kids in her native home of Alaska. So when Matt got a job promotion in Anchorage, the family of five was excited to move 4,000 miles to set down roots and experience all the adventures Alaska has to offer. During their house search they soon realize their budget of $375,000 doesn't go as far as they thought in Anchorage, so they increase their budget to $500,000 and look at houses in towns around Anchorage. Emily wants a house near good schools for her young kids and Matt wants the rustic Alaskan look, but will they be able to find a place that checks all their wish list boxes? On Monday, October 2, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT, GAC premiered the fifth season of LIVING ALASKA. In the season opener, "Texas Newlyweds Take on Alaska," Texas newlyweds are ready to trade city living in Houston for the rugged landscape and crisp air of Girdwood, Alaska. They both want their first home to have income potential, spectacular mountain views and a yard for their French bulldog, Harry. But while she wants a house with a modern feel, he wants something more rustic with a big garage for new Alaskan outdoor toys. With a budget of $500,000, they look at everything from a house with breathtaking mountain views to one that's so close to the local ski resort they can see the ski runs from the living room. Season 6 of LIVING ALASKA premiered on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on GAC. In the season opener, "Settling in Sitka," a doctor couple wants to give up their busy East Coast lives in Fort Bragg, NC, in hopes of finding a more peaceful outdoor life in Sitka. They want to find a large home that can accommodate guests and must decide between a place on its own island or a home closer to town.

On Monday, February 4, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, GAC premiered the Season 6 finale of LIVING ALASKA. In the season ender, "Online Tweethearts Trek to Eagle River," newlyweds who met online are moving to Alaska for his dream job with the Air Force. Their sights are set on Eagle River, a picturesque town that offers proximity to both Anchorage and the mountains. The couple wants a log home with rustic finishes, a wood-burning fireplace and a garage or shop as well as a fenced-in yard for their little dog, Lulu. However, they can't agree on location, as he wants a remote cabin and she wants a home that's closer to town and other people.
