Plot Synopsis

When 15-year-old Liv returns home to Wisconsin after starring for four years in a hit musical TV show in Hollywood, she must re-acclimate to family life with her parents, two brothers, and twin sister Maddie, whose polar opposite personality tests their unbreakable twin bond. Liv is a cool, confident, social butterfly who loves to sing; Maddie is a smart, athletic, high school basketball star who opts for high tops over high heels. While their parents, Peter and Karen, play referee between the teenage twins, their brothers, Joey and Parker, seize the opportunity to capitalize on the chaos and get away with as much as they can. Disney aired a sneak-peek episode of LIV AND MADDIE on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 9:45pm ET/PT, immediately after the world premiere of the Disney Original Movie TEEN BEACH MOVIE. Nearly two months later, Disney presented the official series premiere of LIV AND MADDIE on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 8pm ET/PT. LIV AND MADDIE returned for its second season on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 8:30pm ET/PT on Disney Channel. In the season opener, "Premiere-a-Rooney," Liv's premiere of "Space Werewolves" is the same night of the Wisconsin Cheddar-Brat Fest. Disney Channel premiered the third season of LIV AND MADDIE on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 8-9pm ET/PT, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (8pm), "Continued-a-Rooney," Liv covers for Maddie at home while Joey and Maddie try to catch Diggie before he departs for Australia. But when Diggie shows up at the Rooney house, chaos ensues, reminding Parker of his favorite soap opera drama. Meanwhile, Liv gets a call from her manager telling her she landed a coveted role in a new TV show, "Voltage." Then, in the night's second new episode (8:30pm), "Voltage-a-Rooney," Maddie enlists Liv's help to build a giant Paulie Porcupine head for the Homecoming parade, but Joey and Parker accidentally destroy it while playing around with a stunt-prop from Liv's TV show, "Voltage." Season 4 of this series, titled LIV AND MADDIE: CALI STYLE, premiered on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 8pm ET/PT on Disney Channel. The new season follows twins, Liv and Maddie Rooney, who have recently moved with their family from Wisconsin to California. Living in their aunt and cousin's beach house, Liv continues to pursue her acting and singing career, while Maddie has been accepted into her dream college on a basketball scholarship. Meanwhile, after the twins' precocious younger brothers ruin their Wisconsin home, the rest of the Rooneys are forced to move to California too. Season 4 finds the twins building an even stronger bond as they deal with the highs and lows of a new home and friendships. Liv is thrilled when her younger cousin, Ruby, unexpectedly follows in her footsteps and is cast in her upcoming television series. Maddie continues to perfect her basketball game, while balancing academics and a long-distance relationship with boyfriend Diggie. All the while, Joey becomes the cool kid in school and unexpectedly finds his calling as a stand-up comic. Parker finally meets his mind-match at his new tech high school and experiences a first crush, and Karen, enjoying her more relaxed Cali lifestyle, contemplates pursuing a modeling career. In the season opener, "Sorta Sisters-A-Rooney," as the school year begins, the Rooney's cousin, Ruby, returns home from a summer trip. Excited to have "sort of" siblings, Ruby can't wait to finally be a sister but finds herself in the middle of a sister-fight between Liv and Maddie. Meanwhile, Joey and Parker attend their new science and technology school and their experience is not what they expected.

On Friday, March 24, 2017 at 5:30pm ET/PT, Disney premiered the series finale of LIV AND MADDIE: CALI STYLE. In the series ender, "End-a-Rooney," the Rooney house is finally rebuilt and Karen can't wait to have the family reunite in Wisconsin. However, when exciting opportunities arise for each of the Rooney kids, their summer plans are suddenly thrown into jeopardy.
