Plot Synopsis
Narrated by journalist Lisa Ling, LIFE ON THE LINE is a half-hour documentary series that follows patients from Southern California's Loma Linda University Health (LLUH), as they travel to the Amazon, Haiti, and Egypt in their fight to stay alive. Each 30-minute episode features a different story, including a newborn baby, Baby David Escarcega, who desperately needs a heart transplant to survive; eight-year-old Sebastian Lamothe, who was trapped under earthquake rubble in Haiti for three days in 2010; three child abuse victims, who are move beyond the trauma and raising awareness about this silent killer; two-year-old Roukaia from Alexandria, Egypt, who is being helped by doctors from opposite sides of the globe collaborating to save 20,000 children diagnosed with congenital heart disease; "One Arm Willie" Stewart (pictured), who is training for the physically challenged triathlon USA Championships; and Antenor, the family of a father of seven in the Amazon jungle, who is helped by a LLUH medical boat that provides health care services for him and others in the jungle.
