Plot Synopsis
Told through separate stories of its different family members, this half-hour comedy series centers on the Short family: matriarch Joan, who adores her family and would do absolutely anything for them -- as long she agrees with it; her husband, John, the gregarious patriarch who's going through a bit of a crisis as he turns 70 -- and searching for ways to spend more time with his family; their youngest child, Greg, and his wife, Jen, who found themselves overwhelmed and unprepared for the birth of their first child to start the series, but now again overwhelmed by the surprising news that they are pregnant with their second child as Greg finds himself suddenly unemployed; Heather, the eldest of the three siblings and a mother of three, and her husband, Tim, who is dreading her impending empty nest so much she's considering having another baby; and middle child Matt, who can't catch a break, the most recent being a failed career that has forced him back home with his parents, but has finally proposed to his new love, Colleen. The family's lives unfold in four short stories each week.
