Plot Synopsis

LEGENDARY LOCATIONS is a half-hour reality series that follows Josh Gates as he travels the globe to visit the most storied places on the planet and immerse himself in the legends that made them famous. From the Yucatan Maya's bizarre worship rituals to soaring like a god from Greece's Mount Olympus, Josh explores these magical places through his unique point of view. On Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered the series pilot, "Astronomers, Gods and Warriors." Josh weaves the tales and tells the secrets of the world's most legendary locations, as he travels from the jungles of Mexico's Yucatan peninsula to the ruins of the Trojan battlefield in Turkey. Six months later -- on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 10-11pm ET/PT -- Travel Channel presented the official series premiere of LEGENDARY LOCATIONS, debuting back-to-back new episodes:

"Back from the Dead" (10pm): From the castle that inspired the home of an iconic vampire to the market where Santa's devilish sidekick stalks and scares holiday revelers, Josh Gates tells the stories of places where legends never die.

"Lost and Found" (10:30pm): Josh Gates explores the stories behind millionaire Jim Thompson's disappearance in Malaysia, an ancient city's collapse in Cambodia and a celebration of death in Bolivia.

The second season of LEGENDARY LOCATIONS premiered on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on Travel Channel, as Josh Gates continues to showcase surprising stories behind locations brimming with mythic histories, surprising backstories and newly uncovered secrets. With the help of historians and local experts, he illuminates new findings from the places you thought you knew and sheds light on those you never knew existed. In the season opener, "Out of This World," Josh explores both the natural -- and the supernatural. He examines an ancient cathedral made entirely of salt, buried 20 stories beneath the streets of Wieliczka, Poland, and a mysterious symbol in Sicily believed to be written by a nun under demonic possession. Additional stories include a haunted asylum in upstate New York, the intriguing tale of Brazil's booming coffee industry and more. After a five-week break, LEGENDARY LOCATIONS returned with new episodes on a new night, beginning Sunday, June 9, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT. In the mid-season premiere, "Truth or Consequences," from an imposing Czech castle said to protect a portal to hell to a lavish feast prepared for 3,000 hungry primates in Thailand, Josh Gates explores five legendary locations where appearances can be deceiving.

On Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 10pm-Midnight ET/PT, Travel Channel premiered the Season 2 finale of LEGENDARY LOCATIONS, debuting back-to-back new episodes:
