Plot Synopsis
THE LEGEND OF MICK DODGE follows the daily life and adventures of Mick Dodge, who left the modern world behind 25 years earlier and ventured deep into the Hoh Rainforest in the Pacific Northwest. From searching for food to diving into rivers, Mick lives life by his own unique philosophy, as some days are spent hanging in the trees, while others are spent bedding down with elk, building a mountain-man raft or running barefoot for miles. When he does venture out from the woods into the modern world, he spreads his message of being one with nature, before quickly disappearing back into his natural world, which is populated by unique outdoorsmen with names like Sunray, Moss Hopper and Will of Stone. In this one-hour reality series, Mick heads to the Highlands to spread his dad's ashes over the land; travels to The Boneyard, filled with remnants and scraps from previous logging seasons, to find goods to barter for a new bow from a legendary archer, replacing his prized bow and arrow gifted to him by his grandfather; sets out to scour the Olympic Peninsula for protein, where he's desperate enough to search elk feces for larvae eggs to eat; and visiting the forest physician, Doc Gair, to treat a bad case of Beaver Fever with a cure-all elixir brewed from natural ingredients collected by the two men. On Christmas Day 2013 at 10:30pm ET/PT, Nat Geo aired a sneak-peek episode of this program, with the official series premiere debuting two weeks later on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT. Immediately following a new one-hour special, "The Dodge Way of Life," at 8pm ET/PT, Nat Geo aired the Season 2 premiere of THE LEGEND OF MICK DODGE on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, showing back-to-back new episodes from 9-10pm ET/PT. In the new season, spring is in the air and Dodge is finally able to reconnect with his fellow forest dwellers after a long winter. With friends like Sunray, Moss Hopper and Will of Stone, Dodge's world is populated by a unique breed of outdoorsmen who also live life on their own terms. Dodge finds himself in the center of the action as the return of springtime has awakened the moss-covered world of Washington state. As the warmer weather brings the wildlife of the Hoh Rainforest out of hibernation, Dodge and friends gear up for the new activities that come along with the changing season. Whether he is harvesting seasonal berries to brew a fresh batch of the Dodge Family Forest Wine or drinking maple sap straight out of a tree, Dodge finds adventure every day in the wild.

On Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, Nat Geo premiered the third season of THE LEGEND OF MICK DODGE. In the Season 3 opener, "Native Medicine," for more than three decades, Mick Dodge has dedicated his life to the wilderness in the Hoh Rainforest, and he's got the battle scars to prove it. Though his unique lifestyle has taken its toll on him physically, Mick doesn't plan on changing his ways anytime soon. But with aches and pains beginning to slow him down, Mick will need to do something to get back in fighting form, and he has an idea of where to get the healing he needs. Mick has long admired ancient Native American culture and has learned to use many of their traditional practices in his daily life, but now he will need help from a Makah medicine woman to get a special healing balm few know how to make. In accordance with Native tradition, Mick will need to give an appropriate tribute in exchange, and he knows just where to look.
